Description

U2 in 1984 pioneered a new era with “THE UNFORGETTABLE FIRE” featuring Brian Eno. Two masterpiece live albums that convey the scene will be released simultaneously. This work is the second part of such a two-part release. It is a newly excavated audience recording of “Worcester performance on December 2, 1984”. “THE UNFORGETTABLE FIRE Tour” was the time when they first entered the southern hemisphere and expanded from theater class to arenas in Europe and the United States. First, let’s take a bird’s-eye view of the era of their breakthrough on the schedule and approach the position of this work. 1984 August 29th – September 24th: Oceania (19 shows) (October 1st: “THE UNFORGETTABLE FIRE” released) October 18th – November 21st: Europe #1 (21 shows) *EDINBURGH 1984 and others November 24th + 25th: BAND AID session December 1st – 16th: North America #1 (10 shows) *HERE* 1985 January 23rd – February 10th: Europe #2 (13 shows) *BOLOGNA 1985 and others February 25th – May 4th: North America #2 (40 shows) May 25th – July 7th: Europe #3 (8 shows) *MILTON KEYNES 1985 July 13th: LIVE AID appearance August 25th: LARK BY THE LEE appearance This is U2 in 1984/1985. The Worcester performance in this work was the second performance of “North America # 1”, which was held at the end of 1984. The full-scale US tour was “North America # 2” after the new year, but “North America # 1” was a mini-tour that also served as a preview. At this time, they were still doing theater classes, but they also advanced to large venues such as “Civic Auditorium” and “Long Beach Arena”. The Worcester performance in this work was also the first highlight performance at “The Centrum (now DCU Center)”, which can accommodate about 15,000 people. This work, which vacuum-packs such a historic scene, is a new master that was released very recently. It is a masterpiece that was directly digitized from the 1st Gene cassette (copied from the original cassette for backup purposes. The original cassette itself is said to have been broken) that Taper himself treasured. The sound is fresh and super real. Since it is the first generation by the recorder himself, there are almost no dubbing marks, the smooth sound is glossy without distortion or twisting, and the high notes are straight and beautiful. Not only was the number of dubbings small, but the one dubbing was also very nerve-wracking. If it hadn’t been specifically declared “1st generation”, I would have thought it was the original master itself. Not only is it fresh, but the recording itself is also wonderful. It is not the type that can be mistaken for a sound board or broadcast, but that doesn’t mean you feel the distance. The solid core breaks through the sound and approaches your ears, bringing details that tend to be spoiled, such as the subtleties of the bass and arpeggios. And the raw enthusiasm! The cheers that spread through the large venue and the joy of the audience up close are simply real. Although it is a balance that can be overpowered by the solid performance, the heat that seems to be an uphill band is transmitted to the skin. Such a fresh and real sound depicts a young and passionate performance that entered a large venue in America. The set is standard for this time, but the rare songs from that time are also delicious. Finally, let’s summarize the contents. (6 songs) MLK / The Unforgettable Fire / Wire (★) / A Sort Of Homecoming / Bad / Pride (In The Name Of Love) Others (10 songs) WAR (Fight): Seconds / Sunday Bloody Sunday / New Year’s Day / 40 Others: 11 O’Clock Tick Tock / I Will Follow / The Cry-The Electric Co. / October / Trash, Trampoline And The Party Girl / Gloria *Note: The ★ mark is a limited edition song only for this tour. A historic spectacle. There was a fight for tickets at the theater-class venue of “North America #1”, and it was clear that they could not perform live unless it was an arena venue. And the large-scale “THE UNFORGETTABLE FIRE” number fit perfectly in the actual arena venue. The band’s growth and popularity expanded simultaneously, and they became huge all at once. A new masterpiece that lets you experience “U2’s 1984” on the spot. A newly excavated audience recording of the “Worcester performance on December 2, 1984”. A masterpiece created from the 1st generation cassette that Taper himself had treasured, it is fresh and super real. There are almost no dubbing marks, the smooth sound is glossy without distortion or twisting, and the high notes are straight and beautiful. You can experience the young and passionate performance that took place in an arena-class large venue for the first time.
