Description

In 2009, U2 performed their first surprise rooftop concert since the Beatles in 1969. A very special pro shot that allows you to witness all the songs + α in the highest quality has been decided to be released. The surprise gig was held on “February 27, 2009 in London”. It was the “BBC Radio Theater” on Regent Street. This day is also the release date of their new album “NO LINE ON THE HORIZON”, and we are planning a special gig to promote it. However, there was no major announcement beforehand, and it was spread as an “internet rumor” on the day of the event. Not only the fans who believed the rumors, but also people who happened to be passing by, such as housewives, businessmen, and students on their way home from dinner shopping or after work, flocked to the street and asked, “What’s all the fuss about!?” The street was filled with 5,000 people. . Eventually, the riot caused London police to close down the street. It truly became a modern rock legend, and the scene was filmed by the BBC. This work is not a professional shot of that distribution… The shot itself is from the BBC, but this work is a version that was aired by a certain satellite broadcasting station two years later in 2011. This is a DVD version of the Japanese broadcast, with subtitles included for Bono’s MC speaking to a crowd-filled street and numerous street interviews. The subtitles alone are rare, but this program is much more than that. Actually, there was a recording on “BBC RADIO 1” in the morning of this day, and the studio live performance of “Breathe” that was performed there, the setup for the rooftop live, and the members heading to the venue (?), etc. You can enjoy all of this with the finest multi-camera professional shots. And the historic “rooftop live” for the first time in 40 years began at 18:45. Unlike the Beatles, who were more like guerrillas, the “BBC Radio Theater” was beautifully lit up, and a performance that promised to become a legend was held. The quality is official level with no questions asked, and not only the image quality and sound quality, but also the mix and camera work are impenetrable. Aerial shots that capture not only the members but also the commotion on the streets and angles from adjacent buildings are often used, and it is truly an extremely high-quality film that shows off the prestige of the prestigious BBC. The performance is as special as the location and quality. All four songs recorded in this work were played at the scene, but the contents were a combination of “Get On Your Boots” and “Magnificent” from “NO LINE ON THE HORIZON” released on the day, and “Vertigo” and “Beautiful Day” will also be performed. Even more than the performance is the MC. Anyway, Bono was extremely high, looking down at the crowd from the railing on the roof and excitedly saying things like “It’s really amazing” and “BBC is the best!”. He was so excited (?) that he said, “Thanks to the kindness of the BBC, we were able to perform the new song for the first time,” but in reality, it wasn’t the first time… In any case, you can enjoy a passionate performance with a strange tension that is different from ordinary concerts. In today’s world, where rock has become a mere facade and legends are becoming less common, the “rooftop live” has undoubtedly become a legend. This is a video work that allows you to enjoy not only the whole story, but also everything from that day with Japanese subtitles. Although it is short at about 26 minutes, the content is very rich. A piece that even surpasses a full show in terms of satisfaction. Live at BBC Radio Theatre, London, UK 27th February 2009 Broadcast Date: 28th December 2011 (26:10) 1. Introduction 2. Breathe 3. Documentary 4. Get On Your Boots 5. Magnificent 6. Veritgo 7. Beautiful Day PRO- SHOT COLOR NTSC Approx.26min.
