Description
This work contains the “February 26, 1980 Dublin performance”. It is an FM soundboard recording. This day was the 10th performance of “UK #1” according to the schedule in the main commentary, and the day of the release of the 1st single “Another Day” released by CBS Ireland. In other words, it was an extremely early stage about three months before signing with the major label “Island Records”. This show was broadcast on the Irish radio station “RTE Radio 2”. The FM soundboard is loved by core collectors, and “Cartoon World” was also adopted for the remastered version of “BOY”. This work is the complete version of such a soundboard. Of course, it is not just a full show recording, but also the highest peak in terms of sound. It is the best master carefully selected by the same overseas U2 researcher as the other CD. As expected, it is not as good as the completely official CD, and it is a soundboard that seems to be excavated, but the master freshness is outstanding. There are almost no dubbing marks, twists, or noise. Although it is not the type that you can fall in love with the quality of the sound, it is a beautiful soundboard that is completely stress-free. What flows out of this vintage soundboard is a rush of rare songs with “super” attached. Let’s organize the set by comparing it with another CD. Boy (7 songs) Stories For Boys / Another Time, Another Place / Shadows And Tall Trees (★) / A Day Without Me (★) / Twilight / Out of Control / The Electric Co. Others (10 songs) Singles: Boy-Girl / Another Day (★) / Silver Lining (original song of 11 O’Clock Tick Tock) / Trevor (★: original song of Touch) Unreleased early songs: Speed Of Life (★) / Life On A Distant Planet (★) / Pete The Chop (★) / The Dream Is Over (★) / Cartoon World (★) / Jack In The Box (★) *Note: The “★” mark is a song that cannot be heard on another CD. …And so it is. It is customary to compare the bonus titles to show the degree of complementation of the main work, but in fact, this work does not have much meaning. After all, there are only six overlapping songs among the 17 songs played. Moreover, “11 O’Clock Tick Tock” and “Touch” are original songs such as “Silver Lining” and “Trevor”, and six other early songs that were unreleased are also played. Moreover, the performance that spells out such a set is super rare. The ensemble is still in the development stage, and Bono’s singing voice is the best! He was only 19 years old at the time, and his voice was oozing with youthfulness, and it was also amusing to see him overdo it trying so hard to give it intonation and expression. You can enjoy the super rare performance that is a blessing just to be able to listen to on the sound board… it is truly a treasure among treasures. The other CD was a live version of “BOY” that was on par with the official work, but this work is a process of growth. It is U2 that has just broken the shell and breathed the outside air. A treasure board that allows you to enjoy such a very early full show for about an hour with a vivid sound board. National Stadium, Dublin, Ireland 26th February 1980 SBD (61:59) 01.
