Description
The original master of the legendary master “Mike Millard”, who has released a series of miraculous masterpieces and continues to overturn decades of recording history, has been discovered. In world history on the outside, 2020 will be recorded as the “year of the corona disaster,” but on the other side, in music history, it will be written as “the year of mirrors.” The latest in such a symbolic project, the U2 recording, which is a masterpiece of Millard’s later years, is now available. This work includes “April 12, 1992 Los Angeles Performance”. This is a vacuum-packed, superb audience recording of one act of “ZOO TV TOUR” accompanying the shocking work “ACHTUNG BABY”. Just hearing “U2 by Millard” makes my heart flutter, but first of all, it’s the show’s position. Let’s look back at the overall picture of “ZOO TV TOUR”. 1992 February 29th – April 23rd: North America #1 (32 performances) ←★Here★ May 7th – June 19th: Europe #1 (25 performances) August 7th – November 25th: North America #2 (47 performances) 1993, May 9th – July 3rd: Europe #2a (20 performances) [ZOOROPA released on July 5th], July 6th – August 28th : Europe #2b (23 performances) ・November 12th – December 10th: Oceania/Japan (10 performances) ← *Official video This is U2 in 1992/1993. “ACHTUNG BABY” was released in November 1991, but the tour started the following year at the end of February 1992. The footage of this tour is also included in the official work “ZOO TV: LIVE FROM SYDNEY”, but it is the final album “Oceania”. On the other hand, the Los Angeles performance of this work was the 25th concert of “North America #1”, which is the beginning. This work recorded at such a show is truly the best audience recording. This is the sixth recording of this show, but this is the first time the mirrored recording has been released. Of course, it is the highest peak that greatly surpasses any past recording. However, for a mirrored collection that is transcendent and commonplace, it feels a little distant (of course, by normal standards, it’s close enough), and it can’t be denied that it absorbs the hustle and bustle of the surroundings. Therefore, it cannot be said to be a “representative work of mirrored recording”, but it can be said to be a “representative work of ZOO TV TOUR”. Up until now, speaking of the peak audience in 1992, the Madison performance and the Houston performance have been known, but as soon as the Mirrored Master appeared, it was ranked alongside the all-time classics, and enthusiasts from all over the world asked, “Which one is the true peak?” !?” It has become a hot topic. What is depicted with such a sound is a full show of U2 who opened up a new world. As mentioned above, this tour is also the official work “LIVE FROM SYDNEY”, but this work was made more than a year and a half ago, when “ZOOROPA” was not even released. The sets are different, so let’s compare and organize them. 80’s numbers (9 songs)・Homura: Bad (★)/Pride (In The Name Of Love)・Joshua Tree: Bullet The Blue Sky/Running To Stand Still/Where The Streets Have No Name/I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For (★) / With Or Without You / Soul Cry: Angel Of Harlem / Desire Acton Baby and others (11 songs) / Zoo Station / The Fly / Even Better Than The Real Thing / Mysterious Ways / One/Until The End Of The World/Who’s Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses (★)/Tryin’ To Throw Your Arms Around The World/Ultraviolet (Light My Way) (★)/Love Is Blindness Cover: Satellite Of Love・Lead) *Note: Songs marked with “★” cannot be heard on “ZOO TV: LIVE FROM SYDNEY”. …and it looks like this. Naturally, there is no “ZOOROPA” number yet, but instead there is a big performance from “ACHTUNG BABY”. In addition to “Who’s Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses” and “Ultraviolet (Light My Way),” which cannot be heard in the official album, there are also “Tryin’ To Throw Your Arms Around The World,” “Love Is Blindness,” and “Satellite,” which is included on the B-side of the single. There are many delicious songs exclusive to this tour, such as “Of Love”. The volume itself of all songs other than “So Cruel” and “Acrobat” strongly emits the mood of “live performance version ACHTUNG BABY”. Another impressive thing is the sense of realism. I wrote earlier that “For a mirrored car, it absorbs the hustle and bustle of its surroundings,” but this is actually not a drawback, but rather an advantage. Expressions such as “shaking the venue” and “the ceiling is blown away” are often used, and this work makes those words feel real. Of course, there is nothing wrong with screaming, but there is no need to worry about that because it is a mirrored recording. Rather, the sense of perspective is vividly depicted because even a grain of applause in the distance is clear, and this contrasts with the enthusiasm that is relatively nearby, giving a sense of scale. The sound of U2’s performance was so strong that it completely dominated the three-dimensional space, and even though the entire stadium was erupting, they remained the leading performer. The music controls the enthusiasm, and that enthusiasm brings out the enthusiasm of the performance…You can clearly experience the breathing of such an ideal venue. This is also a real pleasure that cannot be experienced with soundboards or official works. It is an “experience album” where you can enjoy it in the highest quality. The great Millard was recording until November 1992. This work is a masterpiece live album left by the legendary master in his later years. U2, whose sound takes advantage of the sound of a huge stadium, is said to be a band unsuitable for audience recording. However, even under such circumstances, Mirrored Magic has achieved a strong core and clear outline. Even if it is not his masterpiece, there is no doubt that it is a beautiful sound that could only be achieved by a legendary master. This is an indispensable piece that not only allows you to experience the best version of “ZOO TV TOUR” with a different look from the official work, but also allows you to follow in the footsteps of the recording magician.
