In 2017, the band announced that they would be doing a special tour in North America and Europe to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the release of their fifth album, “The Joshua Tree.” This was met with great excitement, and the first day of the tour, held in Vancouver, Canada on May 12th, was recorded in full digital audience recording. The band was expected to perform 33 shows in stadiums in North America and Europe, attracting more than 1.7 million spectators, to perfectly recreate the masterpiece that was number one in rock history when it was released and won the Grammy Award for Best Album. The live performance started with their early hits, “Sunday Bloody Sunday” and “New Year’s Day,” and finally began with a perfect reproduction of the album from the sixth track, “Where the Streets Have No Name.” From there, they performed all 11 songs in the order of the album. The highlights are “Red Hill Mining Town,” which has never been performed live before, followed by “Beautiful Day” and a parade of their signature numbers at the end, ending with “The Little Things That Give You Away.” In addition, Mumford & Sons, The Lumineers, OneRepublic, and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds are scheduled to participate as support acts on the North American tour, and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds will be performing with them on the European tour.
