The long-awaited upgraded version of the New Jersey performance on July 4, 1978 has been completely recorded with the best audience recording. The four-person UK, which included Holdsworth and Bruford, has many excellent live recordings despite their short activity period, but this take is also recorded at an incredibly high quality level for an audience recording at that time. It is recorded with perfect master quality, and Bill’s drums in particular are recorded with a great sound, capturing the powerful sound centered on his irregular bass drum. For some reason, Holdsworth is playing more than usual on this day, and he weaves in various parts with side dishes and solos that have never been heard at other performances, making each one a listening point. Eddie Jobson’s keyboard and violin play are also recorded with thick and clear sounds, which are powerful. The interesting thing is In The Dead Of Night, where the excessive playing of Holdsworth makes Wetton’s lyrics in the third verse melt, perhaps because his head flew off.
