Description
The very early and best live album of the original U.K. is here. We have delivered many masterpiece live albums to you in the past, but this work is older than any of them and is a masterpiece among masterpieces that you can enjoy the best sound. This work includes the “London performance on May 15, 1978”. It is exactly “U.K. in U.K.”, but let’s take a bird’s-eye view of the original U.K.’s activities to see how early this London performance was. {January: 1st album release} ・April 29-May 15: UK (13 performances) ←★Here★ {About one month later} ・June 23-August 8: North America #1 (22 performances) {About one month later} ・September 1-11: North America #2 (3 performances) ・September 18-October 8: North America #3 (8 performances) {About one month later} ・November 9: North America #4 (1 performance) {November: Four-person group disbanded → 2nd album production begins} This is the whole picture from the release of “Yukoku no Shishi” to the production of the 2nd album. The live albums we have handled so far are “North America #1” at the very least. This work is the final day of the home tour that took place even earlier than that. This recording has long been loved by collectors as “the only record of the UK performance” (now that research has progressed and it is no longer the only one). However, this work is not a copy of the already released work, but a new master that has appeared in recent years. It is an extremely elegant CD made directly from an analog cassette. The sound is truly phenomenal. As soon as it is played, a beautiful synth roars, but its glossiness and directness are “like a sound board” … or rather, “isn’t this a sound board!?”. When the opening “Alaska” ends, a real applause occurs, so you realize that it is an audience recording, but if you only listen to the musical tones, you can’t believe that it is a customer recording. There is no sense of distance, the core is thicker than this, the details are fine, there are no cracks or noises …. All of them are like broadcast sound sources. No matter how many times you listen to it, the doubt that “isn’t it actually a radio broadcast at that time?” is not cleared. The truth of the original U.K.’s very early days is depicted in that sound. The first thing that is surprising is that the number that will later be recorded on BRUFORD’s “ONE OF A KIND” is already being played. Among the soundboard albums we have introduced so far, the oldest is the “EL MOCAMBO 1978: REEL MASTER”, but not only “The Sahara Of Snow” that was also played there, but also “Forever Until Sunday”. Of course, it was played at most shows, but it was already shown at the beginning of “UK”. The same goes for the new songs “Carrying No Cross”, “The Only Thing She Needs”, and “Caesar’s Palace Blues”, which were unreleased at the time, supporting the member’s comment that “we wrote it during tour rehearsals to make up for the lack of repertoire”. Of course, the performance is fresh as in the early days. There is also a part by Allan Holdsworth that is not in the studio take of “DANGER MONEY”, so you can enjoy the rough version before it is polished. And the overall structure is different from many live albums. As mentioned in the commentary of “EL MOCAMBO 1978: REEL MASTER”, the original UK has two types of “early set” and “late set”, and the switch was at the beginning of “North America # 1”. The “UK leg” of this work is earlier than that, so it will naturally be the “first half of the tour set”. The big difference is from the middle to the latter half of the show. The songs themselves do not seem to be much different from the later tour, but the order of the songs is different, and the mood of the album “Yukoku no Shishi” remains strong. Specifically, after “Thirty Years”. In this “early set”, “In The Dead Of Night”, “By The Light Of Day”, and “Presto Vivace And Reprise” are played in the order of the album A side. The record of this “early set” is represented by “EL MOCAMBO 1978: REEL MASTER”, but this work is a complete form of the show that includes the final song “Caesar’s Palace Blues”. The official sound board “EL MOCAMBO 1978: REEL MASTER” and this work of a broadcast sound source grade audience. These two are valuable sound sources that convey the very early days of the original U.K., but the sound is also of an extraordinary dimension, making it a miraculous live album. This album also includes two tracks not heard on “EL MOCAMBO 1978: REEL MASTER,” “Forever Until Sunday” and “Caesar’s Palace Blues,” making it the definitive “U.K. in U.K.” album.
