Description
The last tour of the trio UK, which started in Canada in October 1979, was held in the US as an opening act for Jethro Tull, in the UK from December 1st, and in the Netherlands on December 17th, which was their last live performance. First of all, disc:1 includes the US leg, the Providence, Civic Center performance on October 15th, which was released for the first time on the Internet in recent years, and is a complete recording in the best quality from the master audience tape. While there was a recording of the Philadelphia performance the next day, this title, which recorded the first excavated sound source that had not been distributed until now, was recorded directly from the master, and the quality of the sound clarity and sound balance is amazing for an audience recording at that time. And although it was a short set of just under an hour because it was an opening act for Jethro Tull, the set list, song order, and even the arrangement have shifted significantly since the legendary performance in Japan that same year, and above all, the band has changed to a form in which Jopson takes the lead. Also, at this point, they had already performed “Waiting For You,” which was planned to be a new song, and it was the first song they played at this show. The following “As Long As You Want Me Here” also had a different atmosphere because it was played entirely on the Hammond, not on the piano, and the ending of “The Only Thing She Need” before the end had a violin solo that emphasized the ending, which also suggests a feud with Wetton. Furthermore, disc:2 contains the performance in Oslo, Norway on December 7th, 10 days before the last live performance, and just before the end, in the best quality from the master audience tape. Since the last song “Waiting For You” is not included after “Rendezvous 6:02,” it is not complete, but compared to the previous US tour and the Japan tour of the same year, the set list, song order, and even the arrangement have been significantly shifted, and what stands out is the change in the band form to one where Jopson takes the lead. Although they play songs such as “Alaska” that make use of synths, they skip “Time To Kill” that has a strong UK feel and force it into “Nothing To Lose”, and there are many other scenes that feature Jopson, which also hint at the feud with Wetton. However, there are many highlights, such as Bozzio’s amazing drum solo and the unreleased number “As Long As You Want Me Here”. Also, “Waiting For You” and “The Only Thing She Needs” are not included on “Night After Night”, so you can enjoy the amazing performance of the UK trio with the best quality, including Bozzio’s amazing drumming and Wetton’s shouting.
