Description

In 1978, U.K. appeared on the scene, bearing the ideals and hopes of British progressive rock. Two superb live albums that will update the highest peak record will be released simultaneously. The new albums released simultaneously this time are the top soundboard recordings and audience recordings that have been upgraded from the debut tour. This work is a stereo soundboard recording of the former, “Toronto performance on June 27, 1978”. Speaking of their debut tour, it was also a famous place for the best soundboards. The overview of their activities at that time will be explained in the simultaneous release of “NEW ORLEANS 1978”, so let’s organize the collection here by focusing on the soundboards. {March release of “U.K. (The Four Patriots of the Country)”} ・April 29th – May 15th: UK (13 shows) ・June 23rd + 26th: North America #1a (2 shows) *June 27th: Toronto show ←★This work★ ・June 28th – July 8th: North America #1b (8 shows) *July 11th “U.K. Live in Boston” ・July 14th – 19th: North America #1c (6 shows) *July 20th “OUT OF THE BLUE (Chicago)” ・July 21st – August 6th: North America #1d (6 shows) *August 8th: “PHILADELPHIA 1978 PRE-FM MASTER” ・September 8th – October 8th: North America #2 (17 shows) *November 9th “CLEVELAND 1978′ November: The four-piece disbanded → Production of the second album began *Note: The “*” mark indicates a show with a soundboard recording remaining. This is the 1978 UK. There are five soundboards, including the long-famous half-official “UK Live in Boston”. Among them, the Toronto performance of this work is the earliest. It was the third concert of “North America #1”. And this day was broadcast on the radio, and it is also a show that became famous because the FM soundboard was left behind. It has been a classic among classics for a long time, but this work is the latest and highest peak. Unlike many air checks, it uses a reel master before broadcast. It has been polished up with meticulous mastering. The mastering was done by “GRAF ZEPPELIN”. It has a reputation for mastering vintage recordings for a long time, and it is still fresh in my memory that it has been a hot topic recently with the classic soundboards of Ozzy and BLACK SABBATH. However, its main strength is progressive rock. Our shop has also reissued PINK FLOYD’s masterpieces in the “GRAF ZEPPELIN” remaster, and its high accuracy has been very well received. And this work is the U.K. edition. The characteristic of “GRAF ZEPPELIN” is not flashy equalization or sound pressure, but careful basic work. Pitch correction finds and corrects even the slightest random changes, and does not miss even 1/1000th of a second of phase shift. Petit noise is corrected repeatedly by waveform and ear, and hiss and hum are removed by fine-tuning each band. Moreover, each of these tasks never distorts the performance sound itself. While leaving the sound of the instrument itself and the extension of the notes beautiful, the noise is processed by cutting off the line where the performance sound does not change. To be honest, it is the vintage audience that exerts its power to the maximum, and in the case of a superb sound board like this work, it does not become a completely different thing. However, there is no doubt that it is the highest peak that has been pursued to the tip of the needle. This work is also one that fulfills that wish. The sound of such a high level is drawn, and the fresh show where the miraculous four-piece group begins to show their true potential. It is a good opportunity, so this time let’s change the taste and organize the above five sound boards from a collection perspective. Four Patriots B side: Alaska / Time To Kill A side: Thirty Years / In The Dead Of Night / By The Light Of Day / Presto Vivace And Reprise Others One of a Kind: The Sahara Of Snow / Forever Until Sunday (*) Danger Money: Carrying No Cross / The Only Thing She Needs / Caesar’s Palace Blues (*) *Note: The * mark is a song that cannot be heard in this work. … and it is like this. There are a total of 11 songs that can be heard on the five sound boards. The maximum number of songs is 10 for “CLEVELAND 1978”, but this work has the next 9 songs. The key point is the composition. The show regards several songs as a block, “B side of the Four Patriots” → “Other” → “A side of the Four Patriots”. And the “B side” part at the beginning is in the order of the album, and the “A side” part at the end shows all four songs together (although the song order is different). In fact, this composition is also common to other performances, but the only sound boards that allow you to enjoy “all the A side songs” are this work and “CLEVELAND 1978”. In addition, “Forever Until Sunday” and “Caesar’s Palace Blues”, which cannot be heard in this work, can be heard in “CLEVELAND 1978”, and conversely, “The Sahara Of Snow”, which is not in “CLEVELAND 1978”, is in this work. Both works are perfect for measuring the evolution only at the beginning and end of the five soundboards, and these two works alone can hold all the soundboard songs. In other words, these two works are the most important absolute works of the original U.K. The 1978 U.K., known as the soundboard great harvest tour. This work is one of the most important sound sources among them. It is a live album that boasts equal or greater value than “U.K. (Four Patriots of the Country)”. Stereo soundboard recording of the “June 27, 1978 Toronto performance”. Although it is a long-standing classic, this work is the latest and highest peak. It was awakened from the reel master before broadcast, and “GRAF ZEPPELIN” carried out mastering with soul. Pitch correction finds and corrects even the slightest random changes, and phase deviation is not overlooked even by 1/1000 seconds. Hiss and hum are also removed by fine-tuning each band, and the performance sound is processed by cutting off the line that is the very limit where it does not change. This tour left many soundboards, but in terms of both set and performance, it is the most important work along with the final performance “CLEVELAND 1978”. (Remaster Memo) Phase correction. The slightly left-leaning has been corrected. The left channel band is slightly raised around 8-12khz (but there is almost no change). The sound is originally good, so no unnecessary modifications have been made. Live at El Mocambo, Toronto, Ontario, Canada 27th June 1978 STEREO SBD (63:33) 01. Intro. 02. Alaska 03. Time To Kill 04.
