Description

TOTO came to Japan for the first time in three years and excited the archipelago with a special set celebrating their 40th anniversary. The super original recording is now available. This work includes the “February 20, 2019: Nippon Budokan” performance. This is the audience recording. This week, in addition to this work, we will simultaneously release two works, including the super masterpiece “OSAKA 2019 (Zion-138)”. First of all, let’s check the show position on the schedule.・February 14th: Hiroshima Bunka Gakuen HBG Hall ・February 16th: Kanazawa Opera Theater ・February 18th: Fukuoka Civic Hall ・February 20th: Nippon Budokan [this work] ・February 21st: Osaka Castle Hall “OSAKA 2019” ・February 23rd: Iwate Prefectural Civic Center ・February 25th: Nagoya International Conference Center Century Hall ・February 27th: Sendai Sunplaza Hall A total of 8 performances. Despite coming back to Japan with no new original releases since the last time in 2016, it has been a success. On the contrary, the breadth of performances not limited to Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka surpassed the previous one, and it was an amazing performance in Japan that has surpassed its persistence and is once again showing increasing popularity towards its peak. Nippon Budokan, where this work was set, was a highlight concert. This work, which records such a show, is a superb sound that makes you want to line up two or three “super” sounds. The core that hits you right in front of you when it’s on, the exquisite details, the iron-clad stability that doesn’t waver in the slightest, the direct feel that doesn’t make you feel the distance, the clear bass that is powerful but not muddy in the slightest, and the precise mix. FM broadcast level balance. 100% complete on every point you can think of. Instead of trying to find the good parts of the sound source, you can’t find anything even if you try your hardest to find the good parts. As a matter of fact, this show has already been reported on “LIVE AT BUDOKAN 2019”, but this work is a completely different recording. That album was definitely a masterpiece recording, but the actors in this work are completely different. In particular, the venue’s acoustics could only be described as abnormal. If you listen closely with headphones, you can feel the slight acoustics of the venue, but this becomes a very small amount of spice, giving the PA output sound gloss and shine, stopping it just before it becomes cloudy. “This is really an audience recording!?” I was surprised, but the natural beauty without any artificiality is certainly something that can only be found in audience recordings. No matter how advanced recording equipment is today, it’s a transcendent sound that you don’t often come across. Of course, this work was recorded by a master craftsman who has produced numerous masterpieces and albums. There are too many collections to list, but for TOTO fans, “BUDOKAN 2016” will leave an impression. Not only that super masterpiece, but if you think “This is amazing!” with our latest Tokyo recording, you can almost certainly think that it is the work of this person… It is the latest work of such a master collection. The sound depicted is the 40th anniversary show of a heavyweight who has continued to produce masterpieces. As mentioned above, they came back to Japan without a new full album, but only 4 of the 20 songs are the same as the previous tour in 2016, “Hold the Line”, “Rosanna”, “Georgy Porgy”, and “Africa”. What’s more, even if you replace it with just that much, it’s still just a masterpiece. The “new material” such as “Devil’s Tower” left by brothers Jeff and Mike Porcaro and “Alone” from the best album “40 TRIPS AROUND THE SUN” is as good as the representative songs of the past. It’s a live show that proves how much they have continued to write great songs. And the performance of the 40th anniversary set is also impenetrable. Steve Lukather & Steve Porcaro play unabated, and Joseph Williams is also in great condition (“Lovers In The Night” sung by him is also excellent). Unfortunately, David Paich was unable to participate this time, but his replacement Dominic “Xavier” Tavlin is also amazing. Basically, he is faithful to Paich’s phrases, but the instrumental “Jake To The Bone” shows plenty of interplay with an explosion of individuality. He is good at both jazz and classical music, and although he is different from Paich, he competes confidently with the most experienced fighters. Furthermore, Shem Von Schrock, who is participating for the first time, is also wonderful. In addition to the bass, the vocalization is overwhelming, with a singing voice that Lukather praises as a “super high tenor voice”, and despite being “TOTO without a female chorus,” there is no sense of lack. The most exciting part is the introduction of the members. In addition to mentioning David Paich, who was unable to come to Japan, when introducing Steve Porcaro, he says, “We will never forget Steve’s brother. Please give a round of applause to Jeff and Mike Porcaro as well!” . It’s not just the song, it makes you feel 40 years with the members who are no longer here. TOTO excited the archipelago with a fresh show full of rare songs. It is a great masterpiece of cultural heritage class that depicts the highlight performance with the ultimate audience sound that is even better than a sound board. “OSAKA 2019”, which was released at the same time, is also transcendent, so it cannot be said that it is the No. 1 tour, but on the contrary, both works are super masterpieces that will be the top two on the global level.
