Description
The Japan performance of TOTO’s 40th anniversary tour ended with rave reviews. This work is a superb audience recording of “February 21, 2019: Osaka Castle Hall”, which is the best masterpiece in Western Japan. East Japan’s best work “BUDOKAN 2019” will also appear, so let’s check the show’s position here as well. ・February 14th: Hiroshima Bunka Gakuen HBG Hall ・February 16th: Kanazawa Opera Theater ・February 18th: Fukuoka Civic Hall ・February 20th: Nippon Budokan “BUDOKAN 2019” ・February 21st: Osaka Castle Hall [This work] ・February 23rd: Iwate Prefectural Hall ・February 25th: Nagoya International Conference Center Century Hall ・February 27th: Sendai Sunplaza Hall Recently, TOTO’s performances in Osaka include Grand Cube, Festival Hall, etc. There has been a series of medium-sized venues, but this time (albeit for just one performance) it was at the imposing Osaka Castle. This was the first performance at a large venue in 33 years since 1986. This work, which records that show, has an unusually high quality sound. This show has been reported on “LIVE IN OSAKA 2019”, but this work is a completely different recording. “BUDOKAN 2019”, which was released at the same time, had a miraculous sound, so I can’t say it’s No. 1 easily, but this one also has an extremely thick core, a sense of close contact with no sense of distance, unusually detailed details, and even the slightest blur. No sense of stability…everything is perfect. Even though I tried my best to find faults, I couldn’t find them. It is a transcendental recording that makes you wonder, “It’s like a sound board,” or “Isn’t this a sound board?” In fact, the sound quality is very similar to “BUDOKAN 2019”. The person who made this work a thing was our well-known “Western Japan’s Strongest Taper”, and the equipment and venue were different, but… I’m guessing, but this probably means that both works accurately record the output sound of the on-site PA without leaking the maximum. The result is similar to that of recorders with completely different methods pursuing high sound quality. This may be proof that both works have reached the “extreme” dimension. Still, if you dare to look for differences, this work is more like a soundboard. In “BUDOKAN 2019”, the slight venue acoustics gave a glossy sound, but in this work, the core is exposed like a direct-to-table sound board. The clapping that spreads across Osaka Castle is so vivid that you can tell that it’s not a line, but even that feels much further away than the solid, meaty sounds of the performance and singing. I never thought it would be possible to record such a sound in that spacious Osaka Castle Hall… And, the show drawn with such a perfect sound is wonderful. This time, all performances in Japan will have a common set, with delicious songs selected from 40 years of history, and fresh as ever. After all, it’s “Devil’s Tower” from the opening. This is a new song from “ALL IN” that is not included in the official live album “40 TRIPS AROUND THE SUN”, but it was written around 1981, and the official version also features the song played by brothers Jeff and Mike Porcaro. . That’s why it’s so full of uniqueness, and the flow that leads to their debut song “Hold the Line” instantly warps 40 years in time. It symbolizes the weight of the 40th anniversary. After that, there are many returning songs such as “English Eyes”, “Jake to the Bone”, “I Will Remember”, the first movie soundtrack song in 30 years “Dune (Desert Theme)”, and “Make Believe” for the first time in 12 years. . In addition, the Beatles’ cover “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” that reveals their roots, and the new song “Alone” are included, and they run through their various careers at once. The acoustic set in the middle was also special, with only 4 songs. “Human Nature”, which was co-starred with Michael Jackson, “No Love”, which was released for the first time in Japan, and “Girl Goodbye”, which has been released for the first time in a while, also pop out. The famous songs “I’ll Be Over You” and the last song “Home of the Brave” were not performed overseas, and could not be heard on the official live album “40 TOURS AROUND THE SUN” (for now), they are only available in Japan. Special song. Speaking of their anniversary tour, they came to Japan for their 35th anniversary in 2014, but compared to that time, only six songs were the same (by the way, the last time they visited Japan was “OSAKA”). 2016”, “AMAGASAKI 2016”, and the previous edition, “OSAKA 2014”, are also titles recorded by Mr. Saikyo. Please enjoy these masterpieces lined up in the same recording artist’s collection.) It is a live album with a tremendous sound that would not be surpassed even if a direct-to-table sound board appeared. Both “BUDOKAN 2019” and this work are super masterpieces with no value that make the difference between audience / sound board meaningless. I can’t rate the quality up to this point… or rather, there’s no point in deciding.
