Description
The release of the best live in Japan from the “TOTO IV” era, when they were at the height of their popularity, has been decided. This work includes the performance of “May 11, 1982: Osaka Prefectural Gymnasium” from their second visit to Japan. The FM sound source of a certain public broadcasting station is famous from this tour, but this work is different. First, let’s check the schedule. May 7: Kurashiki City Gymnasium May 8: Fukuoka Kyuden Memorial Gymnasium May 10: Osaka Prefectural Gymnasium May 11: Osaka Prefectural Gymnasium [This work] May 13: Kyoto Prefectural Gymnasium May 15: Nagoya Teiho Country Club May 17: Nippon Budokan May 18: Nippon Budokan *FM broadcast May 19: Niigata City Gymnasium May 21: Nippon Budokan That’s 10 performances in about two weeks. It’s an overcrowded schedule that shows how amazing their popularity was at the time. This work was recorded on the second day of the Osaka 2DAYS, which was the fourth performance. This recording was once very well received with “MEET YOU ALL THE WAY”… No, the word “very well received” is too sweet. The extremely high quality sound was also the trigger for the launch of the ZION label, and it caused a shock among collectors when it was released. As a result, despite the tour having the very popular FM broadcast, it was sold out in a flash. This work is a CD version of that shock master from the original cassette. In fact, the sound of this work is unprecedented. The clarity, boldness, and directness of the musical tones are not even a quarter step away from the FM sound source. On top of that, the cheers that spread like a velvet carpet are as beautiful as an official live album. In fact, the FM broadcast of the Nippon Budokan had a strangely boring sound because the audience noise was extremely removed (perhaps due to the intention of the broadcasting station). However, this work is a live recording that conveys all kinds of sounds neatly, with the Japanese-specific unbroken clapping vividly. I’ve talked about cheers to compare with FM sound sources, but of course this work is not covered in cheers. The cheers only spread behind, and do not intervene between the straight and vivid musical sounds. There is a secret behind the realization of such a sound. It is the recordist who made this work a thing. In fact, it was recorded by someone related to the record company at the time, and he recorded it with a microphone stand standing upright. Because he was a related person, he was able to choose the best sound position regardless of the luck of the seat ticket, and he could use the commercial microphone as much as he wanted without hiding it. It is a recording that makes full use of the environment that was so blessed that it would be a lie if it did not become a transcendent sound. There is no way that the peak of TOTO depicted with such a sound could be bad. Based on six of the 10 songs from the Grammy-winning masterpiece “TOTO IV,” four from “TOTO,” two from “HYDRA,” and five from “TURN BACK,” the BEST OF BEST of the time will be presented in a balanced manner! The superb sound that even the standard FM sound source is out of the question, the intense greatest hits, and the passionate performance that can only be achieved at the peak of their career. This is a super recording that miraculously combines the three elements of a masterpiece: “good sound,” “good songs,” and “good performance.” This is what a live album is, a masterpiece. This is a sample album of excellent music records that can be recommended to everyone, regardless of whether you are a TOTO fan or not, or whether you have a soundboard. Please take this opportunity to enjoy it thoroughly. Live at Furitsu-taiikukan, Osaka, Japan 11th May 1982 TRULY PERFECT SOUND(from Original Masters) Disc 1(59:26) 1. Intro. 2. Girl Goodbye 3.
