Description
Following the success of his solo work “FULL MOON FEVER,” Tom Petty’s “INTO THE GREAT WIDE OPEN” also became multi-platinum in 1991. An original master by an absolute master that allows you to experience the scene at its finest has been unearthed. This work is recorded in “Costa Mesa performance on November 9, 1991.” It is a superb audience recording left by the historical master Mike Millard. If you have stayed with this article, you may think of “COSTA MESA 1990: MIKE MILLARD ORIGINAL MASTER TAPES” when “Tom Petty,” “Millard,” and “Costa Mesa” are all together. This is a masterpiece that was said to be Tom Petty’s masterpiece, and this work is a live album that can be called a sequel to it. Although this work is only a record of the “INTO THE GREAT WIDE OPEN Tour,” let’s take a broader look at the overview of the activities in order to imagine the positional relationship of the sister works. 1989 (FULL MOON FEVER released on April 24th) July 5th – September 13th: North America #1 (45 performances) ← *LOS ANGELES 1989 October 28th: Appearance with BRIDGE SCHOOL BENEFIT 1990 January 26th – March 6th: North America #2 (26 performances) ← *COSTA MESA 1990 1991 (INTO THE GREAT WIDE OPEN released on July 2nd) August 21st – September 28th: North America #3 (22 performances) October 8th – November 27th: North America #4 (30 performances) ← ★Here★ This is Tom Petty from 1989 to 1991. Two Millard works from the “FULL MOON FEVER” era, “LOS ANGELES 1989” and “COSTA MESA 1990”, are known, which is unusual for Millard, who is said to “not want to record the same band twice”. This collection shows how much Millard was a follower of Tom at the time. In particular, the latter of the masterpieces, “COSTA MESA 1990”, was recorded in the same venue as this work. It is a sister work with the same recording artist, venue and environment. In fact, this work is not inferior to its sister work… but it is a work by a sister who is a year younger than her, and looks just like her. When played side by side, this work seems to have a slightly thicker hall sound, but that is also a small difference. Moreover, the core that reaches through the sound is powerful and the edges are sharp. It has a clear outline and dynamic thickness, and depending on your taste, you may like it more than its sister work “COSTA MESA 1990”. I’ve just talked about it as a sister comparison, but this is actually amazing. After all, the only Tom Petty press title in our shop (excluding his collaboration with Dylan) is “COSTA MESA 1990”. It is a masterpiece among masterpieces, and its sister, who looks just like it, is the greatest compliment that goes beyond even “sound board”. Such a superb sound is depicted as a full show that is a little different from the sister’s work. Let’s organize it by comparing it here. Into the Great Wide Open (7 songs) – Kings Highway (★) / Too Good To Be True (★) / Out In The Cold (★) / Learning To Fly (★) / Into The Great Wide Open (★) / Built To Last (★) / Makin’ Some Noise (★) Full Moon Fever (5 songs) – I Won’t Back Down / Free Fallin’ / Yer So Bad / Love Is A Long Road / Runnin’ Down A Dream Others (13 songs + α) – 70’s: Mystery Man (★) / Breakdown / American Girl (★) / Listen To Her Heart / Here Comes My Girl (★) / Refugee – 80’s: The Waiting / You Got Lucky / Straight Into Darkness / Don’t Come Around Here No More – Others: Psychotic Reaction (★) / I’m Tired Joey Boy (★) / Ben’s Boogie / Lonely Weekends *Note: The “★” mark indicates songs that were not heard in “COSTA MESA 1990 (Zion-162)”. …And so on. Since the tours are different, it is natural that the sets are different, and a large number of songs from the new album “INTO THE GREAT WIDE OPEN” are included. Not only that, five classic repertoires that cannot be heard in “COSTA MESA 1990” have been selected, and you can enjoy rare songs such as covers of COUNT FIVE’s “Psychotic Reaction” and Van Morrison’s “I’m Tired Joey Boy”, as well as “Mystery Man”, which has only been played a handful of times. This is a sister album of a year apart, recorded at the same venue as Tom Petty’s masterpiece “COSTA MESA 1990”. A new masterpiece that allows you to enjoy the “INTO THE GREAT WIDE OPEN” repertoire and rare songs with the superb sound inherited from her older sister. This is an unparalleled beautiful sister that Millard, who loved Tom so much, could have achieved. The best audience recording of the “Costa Mesa performance on November 9, 1991”. This is a masterpiece created by the master Millard, and is a sister work of the same venue as Millard’s masterpiece “COSTA MESA 1990”. The older sister work was a super masterpiece that was said to be Tom Petty’s masterpiece, but this work is amazing because it is not inferior. It has the direct feeling of the older sister work and the dynamism of the sound, and you can enjoy the new songs of “INTO THE GREAT WIDE OPEN” and rare songs such as “Psychotic Reaction”, “I’m Tired Joey Boy” and “Mystery Man”.
