Description
Todd Rundgren’s Utopia’s miraculous 2018 reunion North American tour kicked off in Pennsylvania on April 18th. The opening performance, held on April 24th at the Majestic Theater in Dallas, Texas, was recorded in full by Digital Audience Master. Although they had short-term activities in 1992 and 2011, this was their first full-scale tour in 32 years, and the members were bassist Kazim Sulton, drummer Willie Wilcox, and keyboardist Ralph Shuket, who was scheduled to participate in the tour, but they were replaced by Gil Assayas, a member of the Israeli band Miss Flag. The set that everyone was looking forward to began with the classic “Utopia Theme,” and then they performed their representative songs from their first album in 1974, “Sun God,” “Nightmare Planet,” and up until the 1980s, in almost chronological order. In addition to the originals, the set also includes The Move’s “Do Ya” and Leonard Cohen’s “Something’s Coming,” and ends with “Love Is The Answer” and “One World,” leading into the encore “Just One Victory,” a must-listen collector’s edition that will bring tears to the eyes of fans of the past.
