Description
The final day of the 1979 Japan tour, the performance at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo on September 29th was recorded with a high-quality audience recording. This recording uses a super rare master cassette that is not available even among traders. You can enjoy the final performance in Tokyo 30 years ago with a vivid, high-quality sound with excellent separation and a stable sound image. Thin Lizzy had been touring with Midge Ure as the second guitarist after Gary Moore left the band, but on this Japan tour, they performed as a five-person band with former Manfred Mann Band member Dave Fret on second guitar and Midge Ure on keyboards and guitar. In terms of song selection, the golden era numbers from “Live And Dangerous” and three songs from the new album “Black Rose” are played, as well as Sweetheart, which has a wonderful twin lead and Didn’t I, which features Phil’s emotional vocals, which will be included in the next album “Chinatown”. The tuning sound after the end of Don’t Believe A Word conveys a realistic and vivid mood. Do Anything You Want To and Got To Give It Up feature Midge’s keyboard, creating a sound image that is a little different from previous Thin Lizzy songs. The moving vocal performance of Still In Love With You, which is over 8 minutes long, and the long guitar solo that appeals to emotions create the peak of the day and shake the listeners’ hearts. The familiar 9-minute Baby Drives Me Crazy, which follows the drum solo in the second half, allows you to enjoy the mood of the whole venue with the introduction of the members and the exchange of Phil’s words. The sound becomes quiet for a moment at the beginning of the encore Rosalie, but it recovers immediately. Except for the cut due to tape reversal at 1:26 of Emerald, the entire show is recorded in full, including the first encore take Rosalie. This is an impressive piece where you can fully enjoy Phil’s charismatic vocals and bass playing with a great presence throughout the whole show with realistic sound.
