Description

This album contains two new performances from the 1983 “Farewell Tour” that concluded their activities. After the release of “THUNDER AND LIGHTNING”, which was produced after John Sykes joined the band, the band announced that they would disband after the tour for that album. The UK tour started with a special gig for TV at Hitchin Regal Theatre on January 26, 1983, and about 40 performances were held until the St. Austell performance on March 31. Disc 1 includes the Glasgow, Scotland performance on March 19, which was in the latter half of the tour, recorded on a soundboard from FM on-air master. From the first song “Waiting For An Alibi”, the venue was heated up by the band’s performance, and the twin leads of Sykes and Scott Gorham, separated into left and right channels, were perfect. Darren Wharton’s keyboards are also featured prominently in songs such as “Angel Of Death”, “Holy War” and “The Sun Goes Down”. The twin lead on the signature song “The Boys Are Back In Town” is a great performance that you can’t miss. According to documents from that time, Brian Robertson joined in from the 9th song “Emerald” to the end, and the last song “Rosalie” is a medley format that includes “Whiskey In The Jar” and “Dancing In The Moonlight”. Although it is not a complete album, the songs that focus on the key points of the live performance are 50 minutes that are well worth listening to. The band played the headlining role on the final day of the Reading Festival on August 28th, and the Nuremberg performance on September 4th, which was the last show of the “Monsters of Rock” tour that followed, is recorded on Disc:2 with a high-quality audience master. From the opening “Jailbreak”, the historical document is full of direct feeling, and Brian Downey’s drum sound, which is particularly powerful, is intense. The set was also a shortened set, with different songs from Disc:1, and “Thunder And Lightning” and “Baby Please Don’t Go”, which were not heard on the former, were the main highlights of the first half of the live. The highlight of the day was “Still In Love With You”, which was featured in the middle of the show, and this song was also played at the Reading Festival in the same year, bringing all the fans to tears. “Baby Drives Me Crazy”, which is located in the latter half, is a passionate performance that lasts over 12 minutes, and the interaction between Phil and the audience during the song is exquisite. The encore was also “Rosalie” on the final day, and although it was a medley of several songs at the Glasgow performance, it was played almost alone here. Although the performance time of about 65 minutes seems short for the last gig, the content was excellent. Disc 1: 1. Waiting For An Alibi 2. Jailbreak 3. Angel Of Death 4. Are You Ready 5.
