Description
From the “POP SPECTACULAR” series, mastered by “BBC TRANSCRIPTION SERVICES DISC”, here is Thin Lizzy’s precious live recordings from 1973 & 1974. The first half is recorded at the Hippodrome in London on June 26, 1973. The sound quality is perfect with a perfect soundboard, and there is almost no scratch noise on the disc. We start with “Rocker” from the third album “VAGABONDS OF THE WESTERN WORLD”. Although it is a trio consisting of Phil Lynott, Eric Bell, and Brian Downey, the performance is very powerful. And from the four-song single “NEW DAY”, “Things Ain’t Working Out Sown On The Farm” is a medium tempo number that starts with Brian’s light drums, and Phil’s vocals are pleasant. The following “Slow Blues” is impressive with Eric’s guitar playing singing along with Phil. The last song is “Suicide,” a standard live song from the 4th album “FIGTHING,” and Eric’s solo using the slide bar is a highlight. The second half is also an official quality recording of the stage at the London Paris Theater on November 27, 1974. The live performance on this day mainly played songs from the album “NIGHT LIFE” released the previous month. The members were the golden lineup of Phil, Brian Downey, Scott Gorham, and Brian Robertson. The twin lead play on the opening number of the album, “She Knows,” is full of charm different from the three-person formation. After the introduction of the members, “Still In Love With You” with its beautiful crying guitar and vocals, and the last intro, “Rock And Roll With You” with Phil’s impressive bass, are songs that can be said to show the real potential of a live band, and when “Baby Drive Me Crazy” is played with that momentum, the audience cheered and sang along loudly. This precious stage, which could be called the eve of the golden age, is here with the highest quality. CD 1: 1. Introduction by Alan Black 2. Rocker 3. MC 4.
