Description
The venue where this work was recorded was 3Arena (The O2), which boasts a capacity of 14,500 people. The building was used as a train depot in the 1870s, and was renovated in the late 1980s, until 2007 when the venue was known as the Point Theatre. The master sound that fully inhales the atmosphere of such a historic and traditional venue is truly exquisite. Using the latest digital equipment, the clarity is outstanding, and the guitar, vocals, and rhythm section are recorded with a clear and deep sound. From highs to lows, everything is well-balanced, and it’s a level that wouldn’t be possible if the on-site PA and recording equipment weren’t ideally matched. Yet, it has a soft reverberation reminiscent of a traditional venue, and even though it is the latest and vivid, it seems to have a vintage feel. The best hits of 50 years are performed one after another, so it’s a great listen. Moreover, since it is a full set that is not a festival, you can also listen to “Water”, “I’m One”, and “A Quick One (While He’s Away)” that are not on “GLASTONBURY FESTIVAL 2015”, and from the beginning “I Can’t Explain” ”. I’m suddenly excited. “Water” is just Roger Daltrey singing the first verse a cappella, and then it moves straight into “I’m One,” but it’s still the first song since 1971. It is a monumental moment that transcends 44 years and was made possible because it was a tour celebrating the 50th anniversary. Currently, it has been announced that this tour will be the last, and even the end of THE WHO itself is being talked about. At first, “THE WHO HITS 50!” was just the 50th anniversary, but the weight of “THE WHO HITS 50!” is only increasing. I don’t want to believe that THE WHO will really end, but now that Pete Townshend himself has announced a countdown, I have to savor “this moment” to the fullest. To that end, I would like to deliver as many performances as possible to everyone. With these thoughts in mind, we present this work. Live at 3Arena, Dublin, Ireland 23rd June 2015 Disc 1(71:31) 1.
