Description

A shocking new discovery of the famous Kinney’s original cassette! Introducing the ultimate live album where you can experience THE CLASH in 1978, when they released “GIVE ‘EM ENOUGH ROPE” and rapidly gained attention. What was recorded in such a new excavation master was “London performance on December 29, 1978”. It is a transcendental audience recording that conveys a night at the historic famous venue “Lyceum Theater”. At that time, Kinney’s staff also traveled to the UK and recorded legendary stages, but this show is also historic. In order to explain that, let’s first check the show’s position from the schedule at that time. ●1978 [September “GIVE ‘EM ENOUGH ROPE” completed] October 13th – November 3rd: UK #1 (9 performances) [November 10th “GIVE ‘EM ENOUGH ROPE” released] November 15th – December 29th: UK #2 (25 performances) ←★Here★ ●January 3rd, 1979: Lyceum Theater January 31st – February 20th: North America (8 performances) June 21st Sunday: New York ・July 5th-25th: UK #3 (4 performances) ・August 4th: Finland [Production of “LONDON CALLING” started in August》 This is the footprint of the “GIVE ‘EM ENOUGH ROPE” era. The Lyceum Theater performance of this work will be the final day of “UK #2”, but in fact, the Lyceum Theater was not the only performance. Three consecutive performances were held on “December 28th”, “December 29th”, and “January 3rd, 1979” in between the year-end and New Year holidays. And, on the first day “December 28th”, FM broadcasting reigned as a standard soundboard, and it was also adopted in the legendary music movie “RUDE BOY” (some say “January 3, 1979”). It was also included on the unreleased soundtrack edition. This work is not such “December 28th” or “January 3rd, 1979”, but is a live album that will be the middle of the 3rd performance. And this work, which records such a show, is truly a masterpiece of “Kinney Magic”. The recording itself is famous for its legendary title “BUY OR DIE!!!”, but this work is a direct CD version of the original cassette. The opening machine, “Stay Free” intro, waiting for encore, etc. are longer than the previous ones, but even that is just evidence of the origin. What’s important is the sound that permeates the entire story. How wonderful is this? It was a close-up recording that made you wonder, “Is this a sound board?” from the previous release, but this work has a wonderful freshness unique to the original cassette. The subtle rumbles that were drowned out by the wild beat are clearly left behind, giving it an unprocessed, natural feel. This may be easier to understand if you compare it with the FM sound board on the previous day “December 28th” (as mentioned earlier) than with the previous one. The zero-distance core and vividness of details of this work are equivalent to FM sound boards, but the neat beauty is far superior. It is Kinney’s magic sound that literally goes beyond the sound board. And, what is depicted with such a sound is the early essence that concentrates the pre-“LONDON CALLING”. It’s special from the set. Let’s organize its contents here. ●THE CLASH (10 songs)・Police and Thieves, Janie Jones, Garageland, London’s Burning, White Riot・US version: I Fought the Law, Jail Guitar Doors, Clash City Rockers, (White Man) In Hammersmith Palais, Complete Control ● GIVE ‘EM ENOUGH ROPE (8 songs)・Safe European Home, Drug-Stabbing Time, Cheapskates, Tommy Gun, English Civil War, Stay Free, Guns on the Roof, Julie’s Been Working for the Drug Squad ●Other (2 songs)・City of the Dead, Capital Radio (CAPITAL RADIO E.P.)… and so on. At this point, “THE CLASH” was only an original release, but a large number of the numbers included in the US version were also played, and 10 of the 15 songs were large-scale. It’s the same with “GIVE ‘EM ENOUGH ROPE,” where he sings all the songs except “Last Gang in Town” and “All the Young Punks.” In addition, they also performed “City of the Dead” and “Capital Radio”, which are only available as EPs and singles, and are truly a concentration of the early days. Of course, you can enjoy plenty of repertoire unique to that time, such as “Jail Guitar Doors,” “Drug-Stabbing Time,” “Cheapskates,” and “Guns on the Roof,” as well as songs that will become standard songs in the future. In particular, “Guns on the Roof” is a delicious song that cannot be heard on the FM soundboard of “December 28th” mentioned above. THE CLASH was pure and primitive before arriving at “LONDON CALLING”. This is a miraculous live album that allows you to experience the stage with a sound that is better than the soundboard. Master sound that elevates the treasure of Kinney recording to the highest quality ever. The sound quality is one rank better than the previous release.
