Description
This title is a complete recording of a live performance at Amage Bio in Copenhagen, held to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the release of “Rapper’s Delight” and the 36th anniversary of the birth of hip-hop, with a very realistic audience recording. The first 23 minutes are a DJ set by Grandmaster Flash, the perfectionist of DJ play, and his partner Grand Wizard Theodore, the inventor of scratching. Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five’s lead rapper, Grandmaster Merry Mel, also known as Merry Mel, rapped on Chaka Khan’s “I Feel For You”. “White Lines,” a song about the eradication of drugs, was released under the name of Grandmaster Merry Mel and became a hit. Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five’s hit “The Message” is also performed. And the first rapper to be certified a gold disc, Kurtis Blow. First, Party Time is a go-go masterpiece that Doug E. Fresh rapped during Prince’s live performance. The raps on this disc include “If I Ruled The World” from the movie “Krush Groove,” which also starred Sheila E., and old school raps like “AJ Scratch” and “The Breaks” are so cool they’ll give you goosebumps. Disc 2 features the pioneers of hip-hop, the Sugar Hill Gang. The original members, Master G and Wonder Mike, have been replaced by two new members, Hendog (Henry Williams) and DJ T. Diamond (Tracy Temple), who replaced Big Bank Hank. “Rapper’s Delight” is great, as expected. There are plenty of other impressive raps. The last two songs are from the new album at this time. This is the best live performance, where they still shine brightly. The 36 Years Hip Hop Anniversary Tour Amager Bio Copenhagen, Denmark 19-03-2008 CD1: Feat.
