Description
A super rare live recording credited to Staff has been unearthed. It was recorded over 70 minutes on October 14, 1983, at the second show at Seventh Avenue South in New York, and has been digitally remastered from the audience master at that time, giving it the best quality. First of all, you might think that this would be a Gordon Edwards solo band-like lineup for this period, but Eric Gale, Cornell Dupree, and Richard Tee, all four of the original staff members, all deceased, are firmly credited. And the key drummer on this day was not Gadd or Parker, but Bernard Purdie, a surprise. Considering the connections from the Kingpins era led by King Curtis and the solo works of each member, this selection is not that surprising, but the live performance of this lineup in the “Staff” format is a shock for fans. (1CD) 1. Unknown 2. I Heard It Through The Grapevine/Lady Madonna (incl. Richard Tee Solo/Drums Solo) 3. Dixie/Up On The Roof 4. Nothing From Nothing(cut out) 5. Nothing From Nothing(cut in) 6. Blues Jam 7. How Long Will It Last? [The Seventh Avenue South, New York City, NY 14th October 1983 2nd show] ; Gordon Edwards (bass), Eric Gale (guitar), Cornel Dupree (guitar), Richard Tee (piano) & Bernard Purdie (drums)
