Description

“Steven Tyler howls at a Japanese club!” … Here is a superb live album that captures this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. It’s been 40 years since AEROSMITH first came to Japan in 1977. He came to Japan with his first solo album. This work is a superb audience recording of the “April 8, 2017 Zepp Osaka Bayside performance”. First, let’s check out his first solo performance in Japan. April 8: Zepp Osaka Bayside [This work] April 11: Nippon Budokan In this way, there were two performances in total. The main performance that attracted the attention of the public was the Nippon Budokan performance, but in fact the biggest point was Osaka. After all, it was his first show at a “Japanese club”. The one who recorded this once-in-40-year opportunity was Mr. “Western Japan’s Strongest Taper”. He is a master of the masters who is rumored to know every live space in Western Japan, but this time, the venue “Zepp Osaka Bayside” was a new venue that was just opened in February of this year. As it was the first time that Mr. “Strongest” had stepped foot in the venue, it was difficult to achieve the usual quality… but it turned out to be one of the most powerful sounds in his collection! In fact, even Mr. “Strongest” himself was surprised by this. After all, he didn’t know the structure of the venue, and it was his first experience with the acoustics. He had no choice but to grope around for the sweet position and equipment settings. He didn’t have his usual confidence, and he mobilized all the experience he had gained at “Zepp” in the east and west, thinking “Maybe this will do”… I can only think that all of those instincts were a big hit. Mr. “Strongest” is a self-critical recordist who rarely calls his own work “confident,” but this time he was pleased and said, “This was well recorded.” In fact, the sound of this work is amazing, which enhances Mr. “Strongest”‘s reputation. As always, the direct feeling is wonderful, worthy of being called “like a sound board”. The recording position is still a secret, but this feeling of directness is more than ever before… On top of that, even the “on-site feeling” is amazing. For example, in an official live album, the bland sound of the direct recording sound board is “polished” by layering treatments such as effects to make it a rich sound. However, this work realizes a rich sound with only 100% on-site feeling of the original. To put it another way, it is like a classical concert where an ambient microphone is hung from the ceiling of the venue. It is such a classy audience recording. The show depicted with such a sound is a rare charisma: Steven Tyler’s huge energy is concentrated in a small club. The new songs from his first solo album “WE’RE ALL SOMEBODY FROM SOMEWHERE” and the theme song of the movie “Love Lives” will also be performed (the MC’s “Is it SPACE BATTLE SHIP Yamamoto?” is funny), but at the same time, AEROSMITH’s repertoire will make up the majority. Moreover, the backing band LOVING MARY BAND arranges the music as close as possible to the original, but the accents of banjo, mandolin, and steel guitar are fresh. The small venue is shaken by the rush of “new but nostalgic” masterpieces. Despite the dense feeling, the musical sounds and singing voices that are “like a sound board” do not waver in the slightest. There are no screams or talking from the nearby customers, but the distant but enthusiastic cheers are strangely real. It’s not just an audience, and it’s not just super high quality sound. In a sense, it is one that embodies the “ideal live album” that even goes beyond the official. Everything from the set to the ensemble is valuable. Moreover, it was his first solo visit to Japan, his first club gig, and a venue that had just been completed… This is a superb live album where the sense of unknown and concentration of “firsts” miraculously come together. A two-disc set on which the recording goddess smiled. Live at Zepp Osaka Bayside, Osaka, Japan 8th April 2017 TRULY PERFECT/ULTIMATE SOUND(from Original Masters) Disc 1 (50:24) 1. Intro. 2.
