This 27-minute recording of “OLD GREY WHISTLE TEST” was produced for the promotion of Steve Howe’s first solo album “Beginnings” and Chris Squire’s first solo album “Fish Out Of Water,” both released around the same time in 1975. This rare video has an astonishingly high-definition quality that has never existed before! The host is the familiar Bob Harris, who introduces Howe’s promo video “Ram.” Next is a 9-minute recording of Chris’ studio live performance (albeit a mime) recorded for this day. The songs are Hold Out Your Hand and You By My Side, which are also recorded consecutively on the album. The video shows Chris in a kimono-like costume singing with a bass in hand, but the backing is the BBC orchestra as well as Bill Bruford and Patrick Moratz, who participated in the album, and their powerful performance adds to the video. Following the precious interview with the two of them, there are two takes of rare footage related to Howe. First, there is a live studio performance of Beginnings by Howe and Patrick Moratz, who plays the harpsichord.
