Description
On September 10, 2000, in conjunction with the release of “Two Against Nature,” released for the first time in 20 years since “Gaucho” (1980), the Hammersmith performance in London was recorded on a soundboard. With the superb sound quality that is rarely experienced, you can fully experience a unique and perfect ensemble. It is not a poorly balanced soundboard, but a very ideal sound image with a tight midrange! (This year’s tour was a Japan tour in May, a North American tour in June and July, and a European tour from the end of August to September.) Touring 2K’s studio live at Sony Studios (NY) in January (with Chris Potter and Ari Ambrose) and the Nissan Pavilion (Manassas) performance in July (both soundboards) have been released many times, but this September 10th performance will be the first to appear. It goes without saying that the quality of the songs is high, but the guitar playing of Jon Herington, who has played with Bill Evans, Boz Scaggs, and others, and joined this tour, is simply superb, and the many relaxed improvisations that unfold within the well-thought-out complex chord progressions, especially the guitar solos by Peg and Kid Charlemagne, are definitely must-listen! (I would also like to hear Carlton and Graydon…) Donald Fagen’s voice is also firm, and the ensemble is at a higher level. What’s even more exciting is that the Detroit performance on June 25th (Pro Shot) is coupled as a DVD disc. This is the first time that footage from the 2000 tour has been released! (Unfortunately, there is a cut at 4:25 in Kid Charlemagne, the first half of Don’t Take Me Alive is missing, and the second half of FM is missing.) This, like the Hammersmith performance, is the best content ever, and you can enjoy the famous songs and famous plays from an ideal angle. (You can also see a rare scene of Josie being redone…) In any case, even non-fans will be moved by the jazz approach that only this band can express, the beautiful voicing, melody, and refined craftsmanship. This is the definitive Touring 2K item that couples the soundboard sound source of the London performance in September with the professional shot video of the Detroit performance in June! Please enjoy the sophisticated and best performance to your heart’s content.
