Description
SOFT MACHINE is on the verge of completing the “50TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR,” which began with the retirement announcements of John Marshall and Roy Babbington. The latest original recording is now available. This work includes “October 22, 2019 Milton Keynes performance”. It is a superb audience recording that records the whole story. SOFT MACHINE’s 50th anniversary tour began in 2018, and they will be performing in Japan soon. It continues in 2019. First of all, let’s check the show’s position from their recent situation.・January 23rd – February 2nd: North America (10 performances) ・February 5th + 6th: CRUISE TO THE EDGE ・March 22nd + May 2nd: UK #1 (2 performances) ・June 8th :CLOSE TO THE RAIN・July 27th + August 2nd: Europe #1 (2 performances)・October 10th-30th: UK #2 (7 performances)←★Here★・November 10th-30th :Europe #2 (6 performances) This is the 2019 schedule announced so far. Currently, the final project, “Europe #2,” has begun and is scheduled to be completed by the end of this month. Marshall and Babington are said to be retiring after this tour, but Theo Travis has also expressed his intention to start working on a new album in 2020. Will it be under the SOFT MACHINE name, or will Marshall and Babington also participate? Details have not been communicated yet. Under such circumstances, the Milton Keynes performance of this work was the third concert of “UK #2”. I’m sure many people will be struck by the words “SOFT MACHINE” and “Milton Keynes.” This work was created by a master who is known at our store as a “British master.” This person is a recording artist who has been recording the British scene near London since the 1980s, and the “Stables Theater” in Milton Keynes can be called his garden, where he has produced many masterpieces. Even after 2015, when the current four members started calling themselves SOFT MACHINE, they have mass-produced masterpieces from the same venue and recording artist, such as “MILTON KEYNES 2015”, “MILTON KEYNES 2016”, and “MILTON KEYNES 2017″. This work is the latest bullet. With many years of experience, he is completely familiar with the band’s sound output and venue acoustics, and this work is truly a masterpiece. There is no doubt that it is an audience recording with a sense of space, but the air is crystal clear and extremely detailed down to the smallest details. Far from being a sense of distance, the exquisite sound gives a dazzling feeling to the clear core, expanding the imagination many times over. Visually, it’s like the elegant metallic luster of a brass pipe in the darkness, or like a glass of wine illuminated by a spotlight. In other words, it is horribly transparent, yet the color and luster stand out clearly. There is no cloudiness or turbidity, and yet it is an extremely colorful sound space. This deep feeling that emerges in the darkness can only be achieved by audience recordings that give a sense of space, and can only be achieved through clear recordings with deep silent darkness. It is not a perspective of “how close it is to a sound board”, but a beautiful recording that has mastered the “beauty of a guest record”. The more beautiful sound than ever, the more colorful show than ever before. Let’s organize the contents of the set here. ●70s (8 songs)・FOURTH: Kings and Queens・SIX: Gesolreut/Chloe And The Pirates・SEVEN: Penny Hitch/Nettle Bed・BUNDLES: The Man Who Waved At Trains/Hazard Profile Part One・Others: Sideburn ●Recent years (7 songs)・BURDEN OF PROOF: Burden Of Proof・HIDDEN DETAILS: Hidden Details/Ground Lift/Heart Off Guard/Broken Hill/Fourteen Hour Dream/One Glove…And so it goes like this. The three sister works of “MILTON KEYNES” mentioned above were more or less similar sets, but this work is completely different. There are about 6 songs in the repertoire, including the iron plate “Gesolreut” and “Chloe And The Pirates”, but the other 9 songs are only in this work. It is not only the “HIDDEN DETAILS” number, but also “SEVEN”’s “Penny Hitch”, “Nettle Bed”, and the non-album song “Sideburn”, which is a wide range of shows suitable for the 50th anniversary. As mentioned earlier, the tour will end at the end of this month, and Marshall and Babington plan to retire. Will he reverse his previous words, will Etheridge and Travis take over, or will SOFT MACHINE itself end? The future is still unclear, but there is no doubt that it will be a major turning point. This work is a live album where you can experience the 50th anniversary show in your home country with the best sound. This work alone is a great piece of music, and if you listen to the series from “MILTON KEYNES 2015”, you can get a panoramic view of the progress of the four members who revived the name of SOFT MACHINE. The latest in the original recording series that allows you to enjoy the luxury of bootleg recording.
