Description
The title of Soft Machine’s last performance in New York, right after their last visit to Japan, is here! ! ! Founded by the legendary Wild Flowers, Soft Machine laid the foundations of Canterbury music with the same branching caravan. The band continues to be active today, with its musical style changing diversely from psychedelic to progressive rock to jazz and fusion as members come and go. However, due to the aging of the current members, drummer John Marshall, who is the oldest member, and bassist Roy Babington, who is the second oldest member, they have decided that although they will continue to be active as a group, they would like to withdraw from touring outside their home countries. Now, a must-listen version is now available, complete recording of the club performance in New York on October 12, 2018, right after the Japan performance, in the highest quality stereo sound! ! ! The members are John Etheridge on guitar, Theo Travis on saxophone, flute, and keyboards, and Babington and Marshall, who have been together for 10 years since the days of Soft Machine Legacy. Gary Husband, keyboardist/drumsman of John McLaughlin’s Fourth Dimension, who has long worked with Allan Holdsworth and continues to this day, also appears as a guest. However, Gary’s participation also served as a stand-in for Marshall when he was not feeling well, and in fact he played drums in Marshall’s place during the second half of the US tour in October…The concert will be a new album under the name Soft Machine. Several songs from the studio album “Hidden Details” including the title song, “The Man Who” which is a new song from the early 70’s, “Voyage” from the Legacy era, and a special hit from the Holdsworth era. Number “Hazard Profile” and others, from thrilling jazz-rock to beautiful ballads, Etheridge’s transcendent technical guitar, Travis’ talkative tenor and dreamy flute notes, Babington’s heavy bass and no waste. This is a performance worthy of the culmination of a powerful rhythm section with tight Marshall drums and software! ! ! Early Show Live at Iridium Jazz Club,NY,USA Oct.12nd.2018 1. Hidden Details 2.
