Description

SKID ROW was in the midst of their heyday in 1992 when “SLAVE TO THE GRIND” reached number one in the US. A soundboard album full of momentum is now available. What is recorded in this work is “Donington performance on August 22, 1992”. This is a stereo soundboard recording performed at the UK’s largest rock festival “MONSTERS OF ROCK”. This year’s MONSTERS OF ROCK is also famous for the official live album by the big group IRON MAIDEN, but SKID ROW served as the second bill. This work is a soundboard album that can be called “SKID ROW version of LIVE AT DONINGTON”. Also, looking at their own history, this work was also an act of “SLAVE TO THE GRIND Tour”. Let’s take a look back at the panorama of the two-year period at its peak. 1991 / May 24th – June 10th: North America #1a (11 performances)《“SLAVE TO THE GRIND” released on June 11th》 / June 11th – August 3rd: North America #1b (27 performances) )・August 13th – September 6th: Europe #1 (8 performances)・September 30th – October 15th: Japan #1 (11 performances)・November 11th – December 19th: Europe #1 2 (27 performances), December 28-31: North America #2a (3 performances) 1992, January 9-June 22: North America #2b/South America #1 (85 performances), August 7 -15th: South America #2 (6 performances)・August 22nd: MONSTERS OF ROCK appearance ←★This work★《“B-SIDE OURSELVES” released on September 22nd》・September 25th – October 10th: Japan #2/Asia and others (10 performances) ← *BUDOKAN 1992, November 12: Switzerland performance 1993, January 30-February 6: Oceania (3 performances), June 13: New York performance This is 1991 – 1993 SKID ROW. In 1992, the fourth performance in Japan was realized, but MONSTERS OF ROCK appeared about a month before that. Since it was such a famous festival, the event was broadcast on the radio, and the FM soundboard was loved. This work is also a live album based on the air check at that time, and it is the highest peak of it. The key is mastering. If you are familiar with the previous episodes, you will understand, but a perfect recording of this live performance has not been found, perhaps due to a broadcasting accident at the time. There were many momentary skips, and all the masters were strangely difficult to listen to. This work is a carefully corrected version of such a master. Complement from another part or connect them with the same beat. In terms of academic research, it is not a complete live performance, but it has been completed so that it can be enjoyed seamlessly as a music album (However, there is one part, the intro of “Makin’ A Mess”, which cannot be corrected and is warped). There is a feeling). Of course, the sound aspect has also been thoroughly polished. Not only does it have a perfectly stable pitch, but the bass line, which was a little wild, has been balanced with the overall sound to make it easier to listen to. The best version depicts an exciting and intense show that takes place in Donington, a sacred place. It’s not a full show because the opening song “Slave To The Grind” wasn’t broadcast (what the heck!), but all the other songs are included. Let’s organize the contents here. Original・SKID ROW: Big Guns/Here I Am/Makin’ A Mess/18 And Life/Piece Of Me/I Remember You/Youth Gone Wild・SLAVE TO THE GRIND: Riot Act/Psycho Love/Monkey Business Cover・Psycho Therapy (THE RAMONES) / Children Of The Damned (*: IRON MAIDEN) / Shout At The Devil (*: MOTLEY CRUE) / Enter Sandman (*: METALLICA) / Cold Gin (KISS) / Delivering The Goods (JUDAS PRIEST) *Note : The “*” mark is not a full performance, but only a touch. …and it looks like this. The initial two sheets of concentrate are delicious, but the point is to have a variety of covers at this time of year. KISS’s “Cold Gin” and JUDAS PRIEST’s “Delivering The Goods” are repertoires that could not be heard even in the Japanese performance pro shot “BUDOKAN 1992”. What’s more, before launching into “Cold Gin,” they also performed an impromptu play. Starting with IRON MAIDEN’s “Children Of The Damned”, which was the big hit on the day, they played as many famous songs by MOTLEY CRUE and METALLICA as they could think of. It’s just for fun and I’m not the type to say anything musically, but that’s exactly why it’s so interesting. Normally, such covers would choose the classics of their predecessors, but SKID ROW plays out songs from the same era without seeming to care. It’s also a scene that symbolizes the American generosity that encompasses the entire show (the bass looks great with KISS, after all). MONSTERS OF ROCK soundboard was not widely known because of the skipping sound, even though it was a big stage FM broadcast in the golden age. This is a piece that has repaired its shortcomings as much as possible and sublimated it into a musical work. Since it is a live broadcast system, there is little hope that the broadcast master will be discovered. It is a masterpiece of a sound board. Stereo soundboard recording of “August 22, 1992 MONSTERS OF ROCK”. Perhaps there were problems with broadcasting at the time, but the masters were all broken, but this work is the highest version that has been carefully corrected. It’s seamlessly finished as a music album (only the intro to “Makin’ A Mess” retains a warp feel). The sound has also been refined, and the bass line, which was a bit wild, has been balanced with the overall sound and is easy to listen to. Unfortunately, the opening song “Slave To The Grind” was not broadcast, so it is incomplete, but you can also enjoy delicious covers such as the first two special songs and “Psycho Therapy,” “Cold Gin,” and “Delivering The Goods.” Live at Donington Park, Leicestershire, UK 22nd August 1992 STEREO SBD (61:04) 1.
