Santana,Jefferson Airplane,Crosby,Stills and Young/The Altamont Tragedy Early CA,USA 1969

A free concert featuring Rolling Stone was held on December 6th at Altamont Speedway in Livermore, California, a suburb of San Francisco. These two festivals are truly light and dark. This Altamont concert, held in the last year of the 60’s, brought back to reality the idealism of hippie culture and rock that evoked the image of “love and peace” created by the success of Woodstock, and the illusion of rock. I think it’s fair to say that it really tells the story of the end. At the festival, Santana will be on stage as the top batter. Next, Jefferson Airplane began to perform, but by this stage the Health Angels, who were already on guard duty, were beginning to assault the audience, creating a disturbing atmosphere. The stage was temporarily suspended due to an incident in which Jefferson Airplane’s vocalist Marty Balin, who could not bear to see the Health Angels engaging in violence, was lunged at and punched by a member of the Angels. The situation was such that the concert could have been canceled at any time. Still, the concert somehow went ahead, and the Flying Burrito Brothers and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young appeared on stage.
