Description

Santana’s long-awaited first performance in Japan in 1973, followed by a short American tour organized until just before the start of the tour with John McLaughlin, was recorded on August 18th at the Newcastle “PEACHTREE II” festival with Foghat, Mott the Hoople, etc. on a stereo soundboard. The tour was held with the same concept for a long period from 1972 to 1974, but the atmosphere of the performance changed completely from the tour from July after the member change until June 1973 after the release of “Lotus”, and the set list gradually changed as the tour progressed. This performance was a period when almost the same set list as “Lotus” was played with new members, and the changes from the “Lotus” period can be clearly recognized, and an interesting stage is being developed where you can clearly feel the signs of change towards the final chapter of this tour, the 1974 Japan performance. The sound quality is recorded with a perfect stereo soundboard recording, and although there is a gap in the latter half of “Bambele”, it is one of the few titles that almost completely records Santana’s stage at this time.
