Description
Sandy Denny’s precious solo live performances, which she recorded with Fairport Convention, Fotheringay, and then went solo, are here. Disc 1 contains a nearly complete recording of her performance at the Lincoln Folk Festival held in the UK on July 24, 1971, from the high-quality audience master at the time. This was just when she started her solo career with Fotheringay, and her Fairport ally Richard Thompson also participated on guitar. Disc 2 contains a live performance at the Guildhall in Newcastle on October 12, 1972, from the UK tour the following year, also from the high-quality audience master. While this later evolved from folk to electric folk, this was still a performance with a strong traditional color, and above all, it was a time when she was attracting attention as a guest on various occasions, such as “Zeppelin?” and the orchestral version of The Who’s “TOMMY.” Above all, there are almost no live solo recordings, so this is a gem of high documentary value.
