Description
Sammy Hagar, who brought THE CIRCLE’s first studio film “SPACE BETWEEN” to number 4 in the US, and Vince Neil, who is once again attracting attention with MOTLEY CRUE’s biopic “THE DIRT.” The latest coupling album from two heavyweights of American HR is here. Currently, Sammy & THE CIRCLE is on tour in the United States, and this work includes the “Huber Heights performance on May 20, 2019”. Vince and NIGHT RANGER alternated each day as support, and on this day it was Vince. This work is a superb audience recording that completely records Vince’s stage on Disc 1 and Sammy on Discs 2-3. The biggest point of this work is the truly superb quality. Anyway, it’s on, powerful, and yet glossy. When listening with headphones, you will notice a slight hall sound, but the extremely thick core with no sense of distance is as amazing as the sound board. The bass, which tends to be a weak point in audience recordings, is also powerful, and the bass shakes the five organs and roars through the ears. Even though it is such a powerful recording, the sense of stability is amazing. There’s no need to worry about the band going all out fortissimo, and you’ll never get lost in the direction of the microphone. Of course, not only the deep bass is outstanding. The midrange has plenty of response, but the picking nuances of the guitar are clear, and the high notes extend beautifully. What is especially wonderful is the essential vocals. While the powerful sense of unity of the band swirls, the high notes of Vince, Sammy, and Michael Anthony pierce through beautifully and jump into your ears with the closeness of your breath. Although it is overwhelmingly powerful, it does not miss out on subtle subtleties. Even with modern digital recording, which is rapidly progressing, it is hard to imagine a sound like this. It’s a superb sound, just like the recording artist of “Western Japan’s Strongest Taper” (of course, they’re not actually the same, but they have similar personalities). Furthermore, even the breath of the audience is ideal. The strong and meaty performance sound and singing voice do not give up the leading role in the slightest, but the large choral spectacle that accompanies it is amazing. Although there are almost no voices, the melody of the chorus is magnified many times over as a swell of enthusiasm for the masterpieces that sum up the careers of these heavyweights floods in. Even the “Suckers walk, money talks!!” screamed in the intro of “Three Lock Box” is nothing short of amazing. Although it is the finest sound of a soundboard level, it has a sense of reality and presence that can never be achieved with line recording. It is a famous recording that truly embodies the ideal image of modern guest records. What’s so amazing about the show drawn with such a sound? Vince is thoroughly concentrated and reduced from the golden age of MOTLEY CRUE. Although it was a short time of about 42 minutes, they performed “Only” the super representative song of “DR. FEELGOOD” from “SHOUT AT THE DEVIL”. The depth is not great, and even though there are songs that I would like to include, there are no songs that can be removed. If MOTLEY CRUE’s best album was to be made into a single LP, it would have to be the same seven songs as this show. Of course, there is no way that such a super representative song rush will not be exciting, and it is a super rich stage that feels like it has been boiled down to powder. Then, when Vince got excited, THE CIRCLE, led by the great Sammy Hagar, appeared. The four-piece band includes VAN HALEN, former member of Sammy & Michael, Jason Bonham, and Vic Johnson, and they will perform powerfully the great songs that have colored Sammy’s career. Let’s organize the contents of the set here to see how luxurious the show is. ●SPACE BETWEEN (5 songs) Trust Fund Baby, Can’t Hang, Devil Came To Philly, Full Circle Jam, Affirmation ●Sammy’s solo (6 songs) There’s Only One Way To Rock, I Can’t Drive 55, Heavy Metal , Three Lock Box, Mas Tequila, Eagles Fly ●VAN HALEN (5 songs) Poundcake, Finish What Ya Started, Right Now, Why Can’t This Be Love, Best Of Both Worlds ●Others (2 songs) Rock Candy (MONTROSE) , Rock And Roll (LED ZEPPELIN)…and so on. Speaking of their live shows, there is also “AT YOUR SERVICE” four years ago, but the ZEP number that was popular there was narrowed down to “Rock And Roll”, and the rest is Sammy’s repertoire. In addition to the new songs from “SPACE BETWEEN,” “Three Lock Box,” “Mas Tequila,” and “Eagles Fly” are also numbers that could not be heard on the official version “AT YOUR SERVICE.” The ensemble that plays such a set is also amazing. If Jason’s drumming, which he inherited from his father, is strong, the guitar work of Vic, who has been supporting Sammy for a long time, is also versatile. And Sammy and Michael’s singing voices. Sammy’s fiery singing voice is hard to believe that he is in his 70s, and his unique high tone interaction with Michael is exactly what VAN HALEN was like back in the day. I often listen to singers of my generation as if searching for “remains of the golden age,” but these singers are completely different. Michael denies the return of VAN HALEN, and Sammy says, “SPACE BETWEEN may be the last album,” but it is a waste to think about the end when you can sing this much. Anyway, this masterpiece Rush is the epitome of American HR. This is a 3-disc set that allows you to enjoy it with the finest sound that embodies the ideal of modern digital recording. It’s a scorching live album that’s so hot that it makes your stomach ache just listening to it.
