Description

On May 10, 1987, when he had completed his original album releases and was exploring soundtracks, collaborations with other musicians, and world music, he appeared at “A Weekend in Monterey” held in Monterey, California, featuring the Grateful Dead. This is a nearly complete recording of the performance, recorded on stereo soundboard from the radio on-air master. Since he had put his solo album production on hold after the release of his album “Get Rhythm” in the same year, this was a rare outdoor live performance that summarized his career. The set numbers were arranged with jazzy arrangements and bluesy numbers, and the performance was relaxed and mellow, as expected. In addition, the sidemen, Van Dyke Parks on keyboards, Jimi Keltner on drums, and Flaco Jimenez, were also lined up based on the approach to world music, so this energetic live performance by the strongest members is a must-listen for fans. 01.
