Description
This was recorded in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on April 13th, the second leg of the 2008 “Snakes & Arrows Tour”, with a super high quality audience. Although this was a live performance from a tour after the official “Snakes & Arrows Live” was released, the ensemble is clearly different from the 2007 ensemble, with the band’s rhythm tightened and the sound more groovy and attractive. First of all, just Neil’s solid fill-in on the opening Limelight really conveys how amazing it is! In terms of the set list, four new songs were set in: Ghost Of A Chance, Red Barchetta, The Trees, and 2112 (Overture/The Temples Of Syrinx). The performances are simply outstanding, and there are plenty of highlights to listen to, from Alex’s melancholy guitar solo to the climax at the end of Ghost Of A Chance, where the three players play in perfect sync to create an uplifting ensemble; the finishing touch in the middle section, the thrilling 7-beat unison, and Geddy’s flexible bass solo against the backdrop of Alex’s harmonics; Red Barchetta, which is simply well-constructed; and The Trees, which makes effective use of odd time signatures for a dramatic development!
