“Wow, it’s close!” I couldn’t help but think that the moment I pressed the play button. Just the sound of the SE that reverberated through the venue before the Stones appeared was quite on-the-ball. That is the Memphis performance on December 3, 2005 that is being released this time. It is a live performance that has never existed before. Looking back on the 2005 US tour, the Stones’ performance was a slow starter than expected, and it even seemed as if the reality of their age was starting to show in their performance. This impression was especially felt from August to the beginning of October. The biggest topic of conversation during that period was probably the first live performance of “Sway” in Columbus on September 24th. Considering that they gave such a fulfilling performance at the “LIGHT THE FUSE” gig in Toronto before the tour started, it was even more strange that they were a slow starter at the beginning of the tour. It was probably when the tour approached October that they started to overcome that slow starter. It is still fresh in our memory that “PHILADELPHIA 2005 2ND NIGHT” was released on the second day of the Philadelphia performance from our shop, but perhaps the fire was ignited by the “It’s Only Satisfaction” incident, a famous scene in the history of the Stones that occurred on the first day’s stage, and the overall voltage of the Stones’ performance began to rise, as it was captured with excellent sound quality. As the US tour entered November, the band’s performance became even more amazing. And in December, when the tour was at its final stage, there was a night that was truly worthy of being called a masterpiece. This was proven by “HOUSTON 2005”, which was also released by our shop. The sound quality was also excellent, and it was an item of the finest sound source that boasted a high quality that was more than enough to reaffirm to enthusiasts around the world the greatness of the Stones’ performance that was unfolding at the end of the 2005 tour. And this time, the Memphis that will be released is not only the performance that took place after Houston, but also the show that became the grand finale of the entire 2005 US tour. As mentioned at the beginning, this is an audience recording that captured the final day with the best sound quality. Houston was also a wonderful sound source with a good sound image, but this Memphis recording is no less impressive. And yet, the fact that it has never been released before is unbelievable, but as soon as Keith Corner started, the surrounding audience started talking, and the realism of a typical Stones show in America was conveyed. Not only was the sound quality exceptional, but the performance on this day was also really great! After all, it is the last day of the 2005 schedule, and Mick, who does not have to worry about his throat, will explode with a super hyper shout from the opening “Start Me Up”, how easy to understand! (laughs) From there, it was Mick’s stage for a while, and even if Ronnie made a mistake in the timing of the interlude in “Shattered”, or Keith was about to be left behind at the ending, Mick’s appearance of pulling the band without moving at all was reliable. From the time Mick himself started counting “Get Off Of My Cloud” on the B stage (where the sound quality was also high), his upper condition stood out again. Furthermore, after “Brown Sugar”, Mick’s tension only increased, which is also a trick that can be achieved in the closing show of the year. Among them, “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” is the best performance where you can hear Mick’s best singing. There is no doubt that it is the best performance of the same song in 2005. The sound quality and the performance content are appropriate to say the best. I never thought that the last day of the 2005 tour, which had been forgotten until now, would be so amazing!
