Description

This is the complete recording of the Memphis performance on June 28th from the 1978 US tour, in master quality and stereo audience sound source. As is well known, this Memphis performance at the Mid-South Coliseum, which was the 10th performance from the first day, was multi-track recorded by the Stones’ side with the intention of airing it on a radio show, and since then it has been edited with live takes from other performance locations and broadcast many times on various radio shows. And as fans well know, this Memphis performance was the starting point for the creation of a collector’s item called “HANDSOME GIRLS” as a culmination of the performance, but the recording credits on all analog bootlegs before “HANDSOME GIRLS” and CDs copied from the broadcast sound source of the KBFH radio show are all mistakenly listed as the Memphis performance. However, in reality, the only live takes from this Memphis performance from the 1978 stereo soundboard sound source currently in circulation are “HOUND DOG” and “SHATTERED”, and this title includes all 19 songs from the June 28th performance, including these two songs. Among the audience sources that have been in circulation for many years, the low generation master has been remastered, and in this tour, where there are few good audience sources, the master recorded on a stereo type recorder here reproduces the real Memphis performance with extremely good quality. Although there are several tape changes and cuts along the way, there is little sound wraparound in the large venue, and the performance can be heard quite clearly, which is a major point. As a bonus, “TUMBLIN DICE” from the Detroit performance on July 6th, which was also recorded for a radio show, has also been added from a good audience source. This take, in which Mick doesn’t start singing for a while, has a mistake in the remix where Mick’s vocals suddenly turn off after the guitar interlude on the soundboard recording, but this is a take where you can hear Mick’s vocals clearly. This is a valuable record as a live recording from 1978. Disc one : 01. Let It Rock / 02. All Down the Line / 03. Honky Tonk Women / 04. Star Star / 05. When the Whip Comes Down / 06. Miss You / 07.
