Description
I think the Voodoo Lounge tour from 1994 to 1995 was a time blessed with live footage. Not only do we have the two pillars of Miami and Tokyo Dome, but now we also have the ultimate culmination called “TOTALLY STRIPPED.” In addition to such comprehensive live footage, there are also live footage that was broadcast on a song-by-song basis starting from JFK Stadium on the first day of the tour. These materials were mainly used for news footage, but due to their nature, they were often included as bonus tracks on CD items. If you are an enthusiast, you will have become familiar with short videos and sound sources like this in real time and with bonus tracks like the one above, but until now there has been no item that compiles such tour sound sources that can be seen here and there. . Since the Voodoo Lounge Tour is already blessed with a wealth of footage and sound sources, I feel that it was overlooked when it came to fragmented live sound sources. In fact, nowadays, there are many enthusiasts who don’t even know the existence of such detailed sound sources. Or a maniac who was craving an item that compiled short sound sources into one. This compilation was designed for those people. The source material is basically professional shot footage and stereo sound board recordings, so even just combining them into one will create a first-class 1994-95 live compilation. But there is no art in that. After all, these are all soundboard recordings with good backgrounds, so by equalizing them on a sound source basis and editing them carefully to connect between songs, we finally created a soundboard album with a high degree of perfection. The sound sources included in this album are all familiar to enthusiasts in real time, and it feels really nostalgic. These songs were regularly included as bonus tracks on CD items at the time, including the previously mentioned JFK Stadium on the first day of the tour, and the two songs performed at the MTV Awards a month later. The following year, Stockholm, where only two songs were broadcast on the first day of the European tour, was treated similarly and became known to maniacs. But that is all in the past now. In fact, I think there are many enthusiasts who will be able to experience it for the first time with this release. After all, 25 years (!) have passed since that tour. In between the fragmentary soundboard recordings that were popular at the time, we have combined sound sources that have been released intermittently from the end of the tour to the present. A few songs from the “STRIPPED” TV special would be expected for enthusiasts, but when a new album was released 20 years ago, for some reason they were included as a bonus as a service for Japan, regardless of the album’s content. “Angie” at Tokyo Dome is also nostalgic now. Japanese maniacs were turned off by the lack of structure from the beginning when it was released, but it is still a sound source that can only be heard here, and at the same time it was included in this compilation. I feel like it has fallen into place. In addition, songs like “It’s All Over Now” from the second day of Paradiso, which have been quietly released only through digital distribution in recent years, seem to be songs that hit the spot. For the reason mentioned above, the overall sound quality level is extremely high, and as a result of paying close attention to the connections between songs and equalization, the result is a completely official level 1994-95 live album. There is no doubt that not only enthusiasts but also beginners can enjoy it with peace of mind. What’s more, “STRIPPED” was a live album that mainly focused on the acoustic side, but this is an edit that focuses on the usual electric band sound, so you can’t miss the fact that it is in contrast to that. The contents are compact enough to fit on one disc, which of course helps make it easier to listen to, but since the songs are arranged in line with the songs from the actual live performance, it’s like the Best of Voodoo Lounge Tour. This aspect is also a big attraction. Naturally, the opening will be “Not Fade Away”, but the performance in Stockholm recorded here is also a happening version that has been famous among enthusiasts for a long time. It was fine until it started with the rhythm of typing as usual, but it must have been caused by a problem with the monitor. Charlie’s drums that join there don’t fit together at all. Maybe he was trying out a new opening arrangement just on this day? It almost feels like an illusion (lol). A 1994-95 soundboard album that not only has good sound quality, but also allows you to enjoy unexpected happenings. This is the convenient piece that enthusiasts have been waiting for!
