Description

The Stones 1981 footage was prepared at the Pontiac Silverdome on November 30th. NBC TV was covering the show that day, and the footage was later broadcast in a program called “INSIDE & OUT”. In recent years, footage for this program has been leaked. At the time, the screen was covered with a time counter and a caption indicating the ownership of the TV station, and the traces of the erasure are an eyesore, but it is still a professional shot, so it is worth watching. Items that actually coupled the video and the sound source have been released in the past, but this leaked video was combined with the radio stereo soundboard recording familiar from “PONTIAC 1981 1ST NIGHT” to create a full-length video, and like Seattle, it was made by “The Glimmer Stone”. However, unlike Seattle, this video was only filmed as a news program interview, and the interview team was only able to go on stage and record the performance in full until the beginning of the live performance, “Let’s Spend The Night Together”. After that, the stage was only captured in fragments from the audience and the seats, and the only performance scenes recorded in full from then on were only two songs, from “Waiting On A Friend” to “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” and the finale. So “The Glimmer Stone” is a tearjerker, with tickets from the day and newspaper articles from the live show collaged in the parts without footage. Therefore, it is far from being called a live video, but I think it should be enjoyed as a live album with a bonus video. However, there are many precious off-stage scenes that cannot be seen in Hampton two weeks later or in the movie “LET’S SPEND THE NIGHT TOGETHER”, such as the Stones entering the venue, Mick doing his fitness in the dressing room before the show, and even Mick leaving the venue in a limousine. Furthermore, at the start of the live performance, Bill Graham’s screaming announcement was a regular event at the opening of the 1981 tour. It is truly valuable that he was actually captured screaming into the microphone in that scene. And in the middle of “Let’s Spend The Night Together”, a fan even went up on stage and hugged Mick, which made me wonder if that was what caused Keith to act that way in Hampton. This DVD features rare footage of the news crew, along with the familiar stereo soundboard. Live at Silverdome, Pontiac, MI, USA 30th November 1981 PRO-SHOT 1. Mick Arriving At The Stadium 2.
