Description

Following the release of the highly popular “LARGO 1975 1ST NIGHT”, the Rolling Stones’ 1975 Largo will be released this week for the second day. Like the previous day, this is also a mono audience recording that was released only once, but for many enthusiasts, this release is the first time they have heard it. Or perhaps some enthusiasts have given up on past releases due to their poor condition. As mentioned above, past releases had the major drawback of being released at a slow pitch, but what made it even more difficult to listen to was the distortion of the sound due to over-input mastering. After all, not only the sound of the band, but even songs like “Star Star” that start with just Keith’s guitar are distorted. Therefore, even enthusiasts who own past items should not have listened to the two days of Largo in 1975. Furthermore, the first appearance on the second day was actually not an audience recording but a fragment of a PA-out soundboard, and many enthusiasts may recall the VGP label’s 75-76 compilation “WE HOPE YA LIKE DIS ONE”. Only two songs were leaked, but this is the only SBD from that day. Therefore, the only thing that can tell us the whole live performance is the audience recording from the same day, but for the second day, the recording is incomplete, with only up to “Angie”. However, when the sound source from the two days of Lago was released at the time, it was literally edited to fill in the subsequent parts with the sound source from the previous day. Because of this, past items also had the problem of recording the previous day’s part as it was. However, this time too, the thorough restoration by “GRAF ZEPPELIN” makes it much easier to listen to! Not only is it recorded with “accurate pitch”, but there is also no distortion due to unnecessary input overload. If anything, it has finally become possible to hear it as “music”. Needless to say, the recording was made after eliminating the unnecessary editing of the second half of the live performance, but instead, the two sound board songs in question were remastered by “GRAF ZEPPELIN” and recorded. Originally, there were parts where the sound was twisted, and the sound quality was quite rough. As expected, there is no way to fix the distortion of the sound, but the roughness has been improved at once and it is much easier to hear. In fact, I even found out that the few seconds before “It’s Only Rock ‘n Roll” were actually the scene between the songs of “Happy”. Like the previous day’s recording, the sound image is mono and a little distant, but the crazy behavior of this day is also bursting at the seams, which is very 1975-like. Mick had a bad throat at one point the previous day, and it seems that he was dragging it on the first two songs on this day, but from there he made a miraculous comeback. After that, the wild singing style that is typical of Mick in 1975 explodes. Then, in “Gimme Shelter”, the sound of the band’s performance goes wrong and even the clouds of the performance seem to be suspicious. From there, Mick tries to make a comeback with force, which is very 1975-like. The passionate singing he gives in the last song of the recording, “Angie,” is also wonderful, and the performance held between MSG and the LA Forum couldn’t be bad. For the reasons mentioned above, the second day of Largo, which has often been overlooked…and it is no exaggeration to say that it has been avoided by enthusiasts, has finally been carefully restored by “GRAF ZEPPELIN” to make it possible to listen carefully. The ’75 Largo 2days, which has not been released much, is recorded on the second day in mono Aud! As with the first day, there is no distortion due to pitch and phase shift or level over that was previously released, and the overall band has been carefully corrected with an emphasis on balance. It is a pity that only Angie is recorded this time, but it has also been discovered that the previously released version had the deteriorated audio from the first day doubled after Wild Horses. Two SB sound sources from the same day are included as a bonus! The previously released audio has been remastered. Phase shift correction, hiss noise and hum noise adjustments have been made, and the songs have been rearranged in order to match the performance on the same day. By the way, this SB audio, the inter-song part before the performance of It’s Only Rock ‘n Roll, about 8 seconds, is actually the inter-song part before Happy, confirmed by this Aud sound source. This confirms that both the main Aud and SB recorded on this board are definitely performances from the second day of Largo. This is the current status of the second day of ’75 Largo!
