Description

The August 24th performance was the first day of the 2003 “Licks” UK tour, and the Twickenham Rugby Stadium in London, which was originally scheduled for the day before the 23rd but was postponed to September 20th due to Mick’s cold. A 4-disc set that completely records the ground performances on both days with high-quality audience recordings. It uses the same taper as “WEMBLEY ARENA 2003 1ST NIGHT” and “MANCHESTER 2003,” and both are recorded with clear, high-quality sound that is so direct that you’ll feel like it’s a waste if you don’t listen to it. Moreover, it is the first master to appear completely, which is quite amazing. On the first day, there was an excellent sound quality recording of a completely different master from “TWICKENHAM 1ST SHOW”, which was familiar as the bonus disc of “WEMBLEY 1999 2ND NIGHT”. Official video shooting was held on this day, and most of it was included in the official DVD box “Four Flicks”, so it is probably unnecessary for anyone other than hardcore enthusiasts, but for bootleg lovers, there is no official I think there is something irresistible about this day’s live, where you can listen to a different texture. Of course, the officially unreleased Don’t Stop, Happy, and Start Me Up are also included, as well as the rhythm confusion around 3:10 of Rocks Off, Mick’s singing mistake in Tumbling Dice, etc., of course, without correction. You can listen to it as it is. What’s even more noteworthy is the take from the performance at the same venue on September 20th, which has really good sound! ! It’s the best sound quality. There are multiple sound sources that record this performance, but I think this one has the best sound quality. Although there is a slight sense of distance, it is still sufficiently clear and the sense of separation is excellent. Since it is an outdoor venue, there is no cage of sound. Anyway, it is a master sound that is easy to listen to. On this day, after the second song It’s Only Rock’n Roll, Mick apologized in the first MC for the postponement of the performance due to his poor health. “I’m sorry, this was supposed to be the first show of the UK tour, but it turned out to be the last,” he says, to which the audience responds with cheers. You can enjoy a wonderful show with high sound quality that seems to be worth listening to in its entirety, but the first half’s Salt Of The Earth (the Stones’ first performance since the 1989 tour), and even the one with AC/DC’s Young Brothers as guests. Rock Me Baby can be said to be a unique listening experience on this day. Along with the bonus, it is a project where you can enjoy the Stones’ UK tour sound source recorded by the same taper for 5 performances (and all appearing for the first time) at once. Exactly 12 years ago at this time, the Stones’ biggest live show in London was held in 2003.
