The “THE VIDEO” series delivers audience footage from “NO FILTER TOUR 2018”. The latest installment is the “June 26, 2018 Marseille performance”, which was touted as one of NO FILTER’s best performances. If you are an avid collector, you may be wondering, “What? All of the footage from the “5 performances in other countries” have been released in the “THE VIDEO” series, but the quality of this work is better than any of them! Above all, the overseas enthusiasts’ work is amazing. When you play it, the scene on March 30, 1966 suddenly appears. It is a monochrome recorded video of the members landing at the airport for their first Marseille performance. Although it is not a super rare video, it is as if the enthusiast who produced this video was promised to have good taste and good feelings. In fact, as soon as the 2018 show begins, that sense explodes as a multi-camera edit. The previous work also connected six cameras, but it was only a rough arrangement for each song. In contrast, this work changes the perspective frequently even within one song, and you can enjoy all the views of the venue. Some songs are almost all played with one camera, but most songs are countless from right to left, close-up to distant view, screenshots. The versatility of the multi-camera can be fully enjoyed with the passionate editing that pursues the worth of each phrase and each measure. Of course, as there are plenty of selected cuts, the cuts are cool, and at the most zoomed-in, the visual beauty is like a professional shot. Of course, it is lacking in the experience of passing through one cut, but on the contrary, the songs are seamlessly connected, so you can feel the “flow”, and it is recorded for more than 10 minutes in total. However, it was not perfect. That is “Before They Make Me Run”. In the previous work, it was replaced with a take from the Stuttgart performance, but it seems that the video of this song has not yet come out, and in this work, the audio of the Marseille performance is overlaid with the video of other performances. Of course, the editor’s sense is alive here too, and it is not simply faked. The elaborate video processing creates a beautiful appearance, yet at first glance, a different atmosphere from other songs, and the processing is applied so that it is conveyed silently to the listener that “this is a video of a different show”. However, because of this, the video was not complete and the press DVD was not made, but the overall quality is a masterpiece that is full of the feeling of a work that can fully represent “NO FILTER TOUR 2018”. I’m glad that it is a prestigious performance that is depicted with such quality. 2018 was a year with many passionate performances compared to last year, but this Marseille performance is one of the best candidates. From the opening “Street Fighting Man”, powerful and good performances are played one after another. Ronnie’s “Tumbling Dice”, which tends to be unstable, also shows a margin, and Charlie is also in great shape. The rare selection “Get Off of My Cloud” also has a great momentum suitable for a killer tune of the 60s, and it certainly surpasses the take of the Cardiff performance. Another special song “Fool To Cry” is also in good shape. This year, it was performed twice, on the first day in London and in Marseille, and this was also a great performance. London was good, but it is clear that the current Stones can easily revive the original atmosphere. The rare songs alone create a special mood, but the powerful show continues afterwards. Charlie’s performance is amazing, and he pulls “Midnight Rambler” with hyper tension, and the band shows off their performance as a united force. This is a piece where you can witness such a great performance in the best multi-camera scenes. Although it is a show that has already been reported, it is a masterpiece that we cannot help but introduce once again.
