Description

The postponement of the tour due to Mick’s emergency surgery was shockingly reported, but his surgery was a success. Immediately after the event ended, fans around the world’s fears were found to be unfounded, as reports of Mick’s smooth recovery were posted on social media. Under these circumstances, the 2019 “NO FILTER” tour began with attention from all over the world. Due to a change in plans, the new opening day location was June 21st, at Soldier Field in Chicago. I can’t help but feel that this venue, which had a strong impression on the first day of the 1997 tour, became the first day of the tour again almost twenty years later. A quick release of the first day of the 2019 tour, which is attracting the attention of Stones fans around the world. After the live performance, the audience recording that appeared on the internet was of very great quality on the first day of the tour. The clarity that captures the performance with a sense of distance without any sarcasm is exquisite. However, since this was a show that fans all over the world had been waiting for, the taper was probably messed up in the first two songs, and there were some parts where the sound wavered from side to side. Particularly disappointing is the scene where the recording sways from side to side as soon as Keith plays the intro sound in the opening “Street Fighting Man”. I think it would be extremely stressful if I listened to it with headphones. Therefore, for this release, we put the most effort into adjusting the troubles in the first two songs. Above all, this problem has been significantly improved, and if you have already heard the sound source because it is the latest live performance of the Stones, you will definitely be surprised. It can no longer be compared to the original sound source. Since it was originally a high-quality audience recording, this restoration has made it even easier to listen to. What is surprising is that from “Miss You” on, the sound image becomes more active and becomes easier to hear, but this is presumed to be the result of the increased sound output from the venue. In any case, the sound quality is very clear, so it is perfect as a document of the return show where Mick, who successfully completed heart surgery, showed little signs of recovery from illness and went on stage energetically. If you think about it, it was an emergency surgery right before the tour, so the band should have been fully prepared. In addition to that, there is no doubt that the band’s morale has increased in order to support Mick’s return as a whole, and the danger that is common on the Stones’ first day stage is surprisingly not felt. What is noteworthy on this first day is “Sad Sad Sad”, which is the first song since the secret gig at Palace Royal in 2002. Other than Keith playing the intense up-and-down phrase in the part excluding the interlude (lol), it was a good enough performance, and the Stones must have felt that it could be done well, even in Toronto at the time of writing this. It was played. Conversely, Keith also plays his favorite phrases during the interlude. “90’s Song Tsunagi”, which was followed by “You Got Me Rocking”, was a good development, but in this setlist, “You Can’t Always Get” was placed in the first half of the live more than ever before. The composition of “What You Want” being played is interesting. It has been proven on recent tours that playing this song was a flash point where the band’s engine was fully activated, but perhaps realizing this, this time the band moved to play it in the first half of the set. Ta. Indeed, the effect is tremendous, and you can clearly see how the Stones got into a groove by playing the same song here. The B stage corner was brought forward even more than “You Can’t~”. The B stage, which has been set up in the middle of the live show for the past 20 years, has been rearranged so that it will appear in the first half of the live show. Moreover, the fact that the moving BGM is “2120 South Michigan Avenue” makes enthusiasts cry. Then, “Dead Flowers” was performed with all the guitarists playing acoustic guitar. There is no doubt that this is a performance style that will easily fit in with the older members, and I think it is an arrangement that I would like to see continued in the future. In addition, it was moving that Mick and Keith harmonized with one microphone at the end of the performance. Due to this “advanced composition”, the position of “Sympathy For The Devil” is also fresh. And “Midnight Rambler” shows the maximum effect of “You Can’t ~” being played early. The performance is so heated that it is hard to believe that it is the first day of the tour, and the scene where Keith and Charlie climb together in rhythm is thrilling. This play quality on the first day, there is no doubt that the Stones took advantage of Mick’s hospitalization to significantly improve the live structure for the first time in a while, and it was a wonderful day where the results were immediately visible. We have carefully restored the latest sound source that captures such a popular show with excellent sound quality. I’m really looking forward to this tour! (Remaster Memo) ★Fixed the early points as much as possible. The big point is that the first guitar sound of Street Fighting Man, which feels the most strange, has been improved. ★Adjusted the mid-low range to make it easier to listen to.
