Description

Another “A BIGGER BANG” tour recording will be released this time. Moreover, this is the 2006 US tour. The label released the Chicago performance on January 23rd from this period as “abiggerbangtourchicago06”. As a bonus, several songs were recorded from the performance on the 25th, the second day of Chicago. Regarding the performance on the 25th, only the parts that could be heard in the bonus here have been released until now. Unlike the latter half of October 2005, it can be said that this was a completely overlooked day in the US tour in January 2006, which is blessed with a large number of items. The bonus of “abiggerbangtourchicago06” included “Rough Justice”, “Love Is Strong”, “Memory Motel”, “Get Off Of My Cloud” and “Get Off Of My Cloud” from the performance on the 25th. The Toronto performance in September 2005, which was released at the same time, used the same recording as the bonus recording on the Check This Out! label, but this was a different audience recording from the bonus recording. The result is that this one boasts an overwhelmingly easier-to-listen-to sound quality. The sound source of “abiggerbangtourchicago06” was surrounded by echo and had the label’s unique equalization, so the sound quality was concentrated in the mid-range, but the new sound source released this time is completely different. It is a powerful recording that perfectly fits the word “big bones”. The “A BIGGER BANG” tour sound sources, three of which will be released at once this time, each have their own unique and attractive sound quality, but the sound quality here is also full of charm that is completely different from the other two. Furthermore, there is almost no change in sound quality on the B stage. The heavy texture that captures the power of the performance, including Charlie’s bass, is wonderful. What’s more, the appeal of this day is that only songs that highlight that heavy sound quality are played. The Stones, whose engines had been running at full throttle since November of the previous year, gave a solid performance from the opening of the day, but not only was “It’s Only Rock ‘n Roll,” which had been tried as a finale the previous year, played at the beginning of the show, which could be called normal treatment, but the high tension stood out. The following “Rough Justice” was also full of momentum as usual. However, the charm of this day accelerated after the song. First up was “Love Is Strong.” Since it was played in succession with “Rough Justice,” the recent songs continued, and the song selection made me think of the American audience going to the toilet or to buy a hot dog (laughs). However, the performance itself was so powerful that it was a pity that it was only treated sporadically, starting with this day. When “Memory Motel” was played after this song, it even seemed as if they had traveled back in time to 1994 or 1995, but from 2005 to 2006, it was the last performance on the second day here in Chicago. The finale was “Ain’t Too Proud To Beg” followed by “Midnight Rambler”. The first half of the show was a very delicious set list, and the development was reminiscent of 1975. What a luxurious song order, it’s a much more attractive set list than the first day’s set list in Chicago. Among them, “Midnight Rambler” is a powerful performance coupled with this solid sound quality. Charlie’s drums are especially amazing! As you can see from this, the bass of this sound source created a unique solid feeling, but in some places it tended to resonate too much. Therefore, for this release, we have equalized this range to a calm state. Furthermore, while the bass is noticeable, the sound of the cymbals and snare was overwhelmed by the bass and became unnatural. These changes made it much easier to hear than the original sound source, and it changed to a natural state. In addition, all of the 2005 recordings released at the same time were not fully revved at the beginning of the show, but it was captured that the engines were picking up speed at a moment when it happened. However, unlike those, this day was a day when the show was “slowed down in the middle”. The culprit was Keith’s “Happy”, which caused the momentum up to that point to fall into a lie-like lack of spirit (it was something that didn’t stop well). After that, when they moved to the B stage, the performance of “Respectable” was again lacking in spirit. It is possible that there was a monitor problem, but it was a very disjointed and dangerous performance. The following “Get Off Of My Cloud” was also incomparable to this Seattle performance. This tone continued until “Sympathy For The Devil”, but it was clear that the tone was starting to pick up again in the middle of this song, so it made me laugh. Even at the end of the show, there were some unstable moments in the intro to “Satisfaction” played by Keith, but the overall performance was very tense, and at the end, “In the Midnight Hour” was included in memory of Wilson Pickett, who had passed away at the time. The full picture of the second day of Chicago in 2006 was revealed for the first time, with the development and changes in performance that were different from the other two performances being very interesting!
