The Stones’ latest “NO FILTER” tour, this week’s release will start with the Munich performance on September 12th. Yes, it will be the show that took place after the already released Hamburg performance. The “NO FILTER” tour is still ongoing (even so, it’s become commonplace for sound sources and items to appear during the tour… it’s amazing), but as a result, the stage at the beginning of the tour seems to have become the mission of the items released to document the process of them regaining their live sense and tone. In fact, the Hamburg performance was the first day of the tour, and it was a document of the elderly members finally returning to the stage with a “Dokkoisho” sound, captured by an audience recording of exceptional quality. In addition, unlike before, the current Stones are no longer touring with a packed schedule like in the past because of the reality of their age, and before that, they are the biggest names in the rock world, so they no longer tour with a packed schedule like in the past, and have a relaxed schedule (it’s also a sign of a big name that they can make a profit from it) that has led to the current live schedule. There were two days off between the previous Hamburg performance and the Munich performance. Still, as expected of the Stones, the performance on this day was free of the stiffness seen on the first day of the tour in Hamburg. There are still many slow parts in the performance, but compared to the first day, it is clear that the tension in their shoulders is starting to ease. As proof, “It’s Only Rock ‘n Roll” at the beginning of the show does not feel as sluggish as in Hamburg. Furthermore, although it is probably an exaggeration to say that this is overlooked, the two songs from “Blue & Lonesome” were outstandingly wonderful on this day as well. It seems inevitable that the Stones, who are reportedly still working on a new album, would release a mature blues album like “Blue &…” before creating a rock album like the old days. In addition, the lively performance of these two songs was also shown in the Hamburg performance, but here it is even better. Equally wonderful is “Dancing With Mr. D,” which is being performed for the second time since the repertoire was revived. While the impact of their comeback was great in Hamburg, Mick and Keith both made mistakes. However, this time they finally performed without any problems. From this, we can see that the Stones have become less stiff. And above all, the backing vocals of Bernard and Sasha created a great atmosphere. Of course, the comeback in Hamburg, where they hadn’t performed in a long time, was also very attractive. The first half of Munich was a good live performance with no fast-paced repertoire, and the fan request song for that day was “Beast of Burden,” which turned out to be an exquisite choice. The performance was also quite good, but the only thing that was a stain was that Keith played a completely wrong phrase in the intro. Starting with this performance, the unevenness of Keith’s performance was noticeable, which could be said to be another aspect of this day. From “Paint It Black,” you can see the Stones’ slow rollers at the beginning of this tour, and when it comes to songs with a faster tempo like this one, the performance becomes as sluggish as in Hamburg. In addition, in “Happy,” Keith makes a huge mistake in the lyrics at the beginning of the song, and he sings while almost bursting out of breath. In that respect, Mick is still in top form as ever. Even as the live show draws to a close, he doesn’t seem to run out of breath, and in “Satisfaction,” he shouts “Gotta!” in a succession that reminds us of the nostalgic “GOT LIVE IF YOU WANT IT.” It’s also interesting to hear him mention that he’s been holding concerts in Munich since the 1960s. Although it tends to be hidden between Keith’s relaxed play and Mick’s lively performance, I would like to reevaluate the fact that Ronnie is showing us his hard work here and there. Especially considering that this is his first tour since his surgery. And the audience recording that was the basis for this release appeared on the Internet as something that boasts a quality that is not inferior to Hamburg. The texture is milder than that, which is also attractive, but the sound image is well-balanced here as well. Many people prefer Hamburg in terms of dynamic power, but I think this rounded recording state is also popular with many enthusiasts. However, the microphone sometimes picks up the sound of the wind passing between songs, and there is a moment during “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” when the taper is spoken to (fortunately it was only a moment), and there are some negative points scattered around, but they are also minor overall. Furthermore, we have made thorough adjustments to the fine sound quality issues, so please refer to the separate article for more information. The overall balance of the guitar is also a big attraction of this sound source, and you will be overwhelmed by the power that is different from Hamburg. In particular, the clarity of Ronnie’s play mentioned earlier is captured with stunning clarity. And this time, the Stones’ performance, freed from the tension at the beginning of the tour, which foreshadows their great performance in Zurich, which will be released at the same time, is captured with the best sound quality!
