Description
The Rolling Stones’ 1994 “VOODOO LOUNGE” tour has unearthed a long-awaited and “almost” first audience recording! The reason why it is “almost” is because only a few songs have been released in the past from the second day of the Pasadena performance, which will be released this time. Pasadena in 1994 had two performances, and three songs from the second day’s take were recorded on the bonus disc of the nostalgic three-disc box “VOODOO LOUNGE TOUR MEMORIAL US TOUR EDITION”, which mainly features the audience recording from the first day. However, the audience recording of the three songs heard there was far away, and the clapping of the nearby audience sounded closer. Listening to it, it is a sound source that makes you agree that it is only a bonus. At the same time, it reminds us that this day was a very exciting live performance. After nearly thirty years, a new audience recording master of the second day of Pasadena in 1994 has appeared. The newly discovered audience was recorded by Marco Mohr, who has amazed enthusiasts around the world by recording each of the after-ZEP live shows with astonishing quality. Compared to the arena-class live shows he recorded in the 1980s, such as the solo ZEP shows, the Rose Bowl in Pasadena is a vast venue, chosen by the Stones in the 1990s. Therefore, the sound image was not as good as that of the solo ZEP shows, but the sound quality is still clear and very easy to listen to. Moreover, the level is incomparable to the bonus sound source used in the “VOODOO LOUNGE TOUR MEMORIAL US TOUR EDITION”. Especially when it comes to the complete version of the day, which was only glimpsed in three bonus tracks. And the high pitch, which has been a consistent problem with Mohr’s recordings, has been tightly adjusted before being made into a CD. And above all, the performance content is outstanding. Just one month before the live broadcast in Miami, the headquarters of the 1994 US tour, you can hear the performance at full throttle. The performance on the first day of Pasadena, released 30 years ago, was also great, but this day was even better. Miami was packed with too much because they were conscious of the broadcast event nature, and in the first half of the live performance, both Mick and Keith seemed to be overwhelmed, but the performance on the second day of Pasadena, which had reached a solid level three months after the start of the tour, was rather pleasant to listen to. In fact, the first peak of the relaxed performance is “Shattered”. Mick is singing with high tension, and you would think that they would ride this momentum and rush into “Rocks Off”, but at that moment Keith suddenly started changing his costume, so even when Mick announced the name of the song, the performance did not start. Rather, it was a pleasant incident that he used Keith as a joke and connected the venue with an MC. Above all, the great appeal of this recording is that it demonstrates that the excitement of this day, which can be seen in the already released version, was actually great. The applause at the moment “Sympathy for the Devil” began, or the excitement that suddenly occurred in the middle of “Start Me Up” is also very pleasant. The performance of the Stones, who play freely, is supported by a great audience. Not only is it the first recording in a long time since the 1994 “VOODOO LOUNGE” tour, but the rich content that is worthy of being called a buried masterpiece is sure to satisfy enthusiasts. Marco Moer has done it again! High sound quality and excellent stability. Definitely a great taper. Rose Bowl, Pasadena, CA, USA 21st October 1994 TRULY PERFECT SOUND Disc:1 (68:47) 1. Intro 2.
