Description
A complete high-quality audience recording of the July 24th Anaheim Stadium performance at the end of the 1978 North American tour (the ’78 tour ended at the next performance in Oakland on July 26th). In the past, the live sound source of this day has been the analog version “RETURN TO LIVER” (AR727) and “ON TOUR” (PHOENIX 44773), and the “ON TOUR” sound source has been released on CD, but there is another one. “RETURN TO LIVER” has not been released on CD until now, so this will be its first appearance on CD. Compared to the subdued texture of “ON TOUR,” the sound quality of “RETURN TO LIVER,” which is a high-quality sound source with a flashy and solid sound structure, is truly excellent, and Stones fans of all levels can enjoy it. With high-quality sound that will satisfy you, you can enjoy the entire show. The sound is very close, there is a sufficient sense of stability, the sense of separation between instruments and vocals, and the overall sense of thickness and scale are sufficiently good. This suppresses the harsh high frequencies felt in the original sound and improves the balance between left and right, creating a sound that is easier to listen to. “RETURN TO LIVER” contained a Presley song unrelated to the last of Side 2, but of course that was deleted. Furthermore, Love In Vain, which has not yet been recorded in “RETURN TO LIVER”, has been ported from “On Tour” and connected so that it does not feel out of place. The ending of Jumping Jack Flash at the end is a little early (it feels like it ended abruptly), so this part was also transplanted with the cheering part from the ending of “On Tour” to achieve a natural fade-out. In this way, we have not only improved the sound quality, but also made further improvements to the overall composition while mainly using “RETURN TO LIVER” to create a more complete version. There are no special songs, but at this Anaheim performance you can hear guest performances by Knockie Hopkins and Bobby Keys, who only participated on this day during the 1978 tour.
