Description

This work is the video work “RADIO K.A.O.S.” released at that time (it is also known as “RADIO KAOS VIDEO EP” because it has the same title as the studio album). Of course, it is a video work that has been out of print for a long time now, but this is a detailed digital version of it. It is a video work in which four songs from the album, “Radio Waves,” “Sunset Strip,” “Four Minutes,” and “The Tide Is Turning,” are excerpted and filmed, and the story scenes unfold alternately with the performance scenes. It is like a “clip collection video” that was common at the time, but the value of this work is even more than that. It was one of the few works that conveyed the story of the album, which was difficult to understand, in a form that you could see with your eyes. The plot of “RADIO K.A.O.S.” is briefly explained… It is a story about Jim, a popular D.J. of the fictional radio station “RADIO K.A.O.S.” in Southern California, and Billy, a boy who is a vegetable but has psychic powers. The protagonist Billy, who is physically disabled, lives in England under the care of his twin brother Benny, but when Benny gets caught up in a murder case, he moves to live with his uncle in California. There, Billy awakens to his special ability to communicate over radio waves without using his body, and together with D.J. Jim, he opens his own radio station, “K.A.O.S.”, and fights against those in power who are trying to control people through radio waves. As he communicates more and more, Billy’s psychic powers become stronger and stronger, and the story depicts the threat of nuclear weapons, including the Manhattan Project, a project to develop an atomic bomb during World War II, President Reagan, Prime Minister Thatcher, and other politicians of the time. At the end of the story, Billy’s psychic powers become strong enough to operate the government’s supercomputer, and he controls nuclear weapons to end the chaos of the world, leading to a grand finale. Of course, it is impossible to tell such a story in just four songs, and there are plenty of performance scenes. It was a work that conveyed an “image” rather than a complete understanding. However, even though it was short, Roger’s discipline is as expected. More than just a precious out-of-print video, this is a work that gives you a glimpse into the world of “RADIO K.A.O.S.” (19:31) 01. Intro 02. Radio Waves 03. Jim Ladd talks with Billy 04. Sunset Strip 05. DJs Talk 06. Four Minutes 07. The Tide Is Turning PRO-SHOT COLOUR NTSC Approx.20min.
