Description

Syd Barrett passed away on July 7, 2006, leaving a unique mark on music history. The best soundboard album dedicated to him has been decided to be released. This work was recorded on July 12, 2006 in Lucca (Italy), five days after Sid’s death. At that time, it was one act of “THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON LIVE”, which was exciting the world as Roger’s first world tour in four years, and it was also one of the three performances in which Nick Mason participated. This tour lasted for two full years from 2006 to 2008. This is a good opportunity, so let’s look back at the overall picture of the world tour and check the show’s position. ●2006, June 2nd – July 16th: Europe #1 (21 performances) ←★Here★・September 6th – October 12th: North America #1 (21 performances)●2007, January 25th Sunday-February 21st: Oceania/Asia (12 performances) March 2nd-24th: Latin America (10 performances) April 11th-May 14th: Europe #2 (19 performances) May 18th Sunday – July 14th: North America #2 (27 performances) – April 27th – May 4th, 2008: North America #3 (4 performances) – May 9th – June 6th: Europe #3 ( 7 performances) This is the whole picture of “THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON LIVE”. Nick participated in the 6th, 19th, and 20th performances of “North America #1″, which decorates the beginning. The Lucca performance of this work was the 19th concert of the series. This work is a record of such a show on a radio broadcast soundboard. Its quality is a stunning sound board of official quality. The reenactment part of the “Madness” that excited the world was not broadcast, and only the Greatest Hits part of Part 1 is included in this work. Still, it is an official live album where you can enjoy plenty of historical masterpieces for about 70 minutes. The set is also really great. The now valuable “Southampton Dock” and “Perfect Sense”, as well as “The Fletcher Memorial Home” and “Leaving Beirut”, which are symbols of this tour, also flow on the finest sound board directly to your ears. That alone is a wonderful piece, but what makes this work special is “Wish You Were Here”. It starts as usual, but after about a minute of playing the acoustic guitar, Roger starts muttering. “We dedicate this whole evening to Syd, my old friend, but particularly this song.”To be honest, I wonder if this broadcast was made to fit the song into a slot. Pauses have been dramatically shortened, and the MC before “Leaving Beirut” is overlaid with Italian simultaneous translation. Therefore, it is difficult to get Roger’s message across right now, but perhaps this one word is in the middle of the song, so it doesn’t get in the way. And with those words as an intro, a masterpiece that captures deep emotions is woven into being. “Wish You Were Here” is a song that embodies these words and feelings. Being able to listen to this one song on a wonderful stereo soundboard is the true value of this work. In 1975, Sid suddenly visited the studio during the mixdown of “Wish You Were Here” and had a shocking reunion with Roger…The anecdote that could not be called happy is all too famous. After that, the members of PINK FLOYD did not interact with Sid, and in his final years, they were not allowed to see him (for fear of developing depression). And then the news of his death arrived… The show that flows from this work is less than a week after the news. It is Roger’s singing voice that stood on the stage at such a moment. This work is definitely a live album where you can enjoy historical masterpieces with the best sound, but the feelings put into it are even more than that. It is a superb soundboard album that conveys the folds of your heart without leaking. Live at Piazza Napoleone, Lucca, Italy 12th July 2006 STEREO SBD(68:47) 1. In The Flesh 2. Mother 3.
