Description

A rock miracle that happened in 2019: Rod Stewart and Jeff Beck co-starring again. A live album that allows you to experience the scene of that century will be released as soon as possible. The miracle happened at the “Hollywood performance on September 27, 2019.” Currently, Rod is in the middle of “THE HITS”, but on this day it was a one-night-only special performance titled “FEATURING A LANDMARK REUNION SET WITH JEFF BECK”. The two have been performing together since April 2009. Rod jumped into Jeff’s Los Angeles performance and performed two songs, “People Get Ready” and “Ain’t Superstitious.” Since then, there have been many rumors about the legends reuniting, and they even went so far as to actually go into the studio in 2011, but in the end it never materialized. After about 10 years, the moment when the two of them could finally combine their sounds came. Moreover, this time it was not a surprise reunion, but one that was prepared and announced in advance. Although it is only an encore, you can have a dream time with plenty of 5 songs. [Main Set: Rod’s Greatest Hits Stage] Now, onto the main topic. This work, which records such a show, is a masterpiece audience recording that is currently arousing mania. The best thing about it is its active and powerful core. The Hollywood Bowl, which was the venue, is an open space with no walls or ceilings to reflect sound, so it is clear with zero echoes and the details are vivid. Of course, outdoor recording has the disadvantage that it tends to create a sense of distance, but this work does not have that worry. The effect of the wind may slightly impair the sense of stability, but this is the end of the “tone change” before it becomes wind noise. Basically, you can enjoy a robust sound with a close feel like a sound board. The show drawn with such a sound consists of two parts: “main set” and “encore”. The “main set” is based on Rod’s current tour “THE HITS”, and the “encore” is a reunion with Jeff Beck. Of course, the focus is on the “encore,” but the main set is also a gorgeous greatest hits that is worth listening to. The contents are… ●EVERY PICTURE TELLS A STORY (2 songs)・Maggie May, Reason To Believe ●A NIGHT ON THE TOWN (3 songs)・Tonight’s The Night (Gonna Be Alright), The Killing Of Georgie, The First Cut Is The Deepest ●VAGABOND HEART (2 songs)・It Takes Two, Rhythm Of My Heart ●Others (9 songs)・70s: Stay With Me [A NOD IS AS GOOD AS A WINK], Twistin’ The Night Away [NEVER A DULL MOMENT], You’re In My Heart (The Final Acclaim) [FOOT LOOSE & FANCY FREE], Da Ya Think I’m Sexy? [BLONDES HAVE MORE FUN] ・80’s: Young Turks [TONIGHT I’M YOURS ], Infatuation [CAMOUFLAGE], Forever Young [OUT OF ORDER] 90’s: Have I Told You Lately [VAGABOND HEART], Having A Party [UNPLUGGED…AND SEATED] [Encore: Rod & Jeff Reunion Stage] It is a work that is worth enough just to listen to this gorgeous set with exquisite sound, but the focus is on what comes next. Rod returns to the stage, grabs the microphone, and the moment arrives. “Me and Ronnie Wood were in a nightclub in 1966, in London, and this guy came up to me and said, ‘Do you want to start a band?'” he begins, proudly calling out the name. Of course, “Jeff Beck!” Then, the entire venue erupted in excitement as Jeff appeared on stage. In response to the loud cheers, he played a single note on the guitar, took a breath, and then the note announcing the start of “I Ain’t Superstitious” sounded. The audience became even more excited when they heard the song, but then quickly quieted down so they wouldn’t miss the miraculous sound. The intro progresses with that rhythm, and then Rod’s voice finally comes in… This momentary ecstasy. It was clear that the audience was holding their breath as the mood became quiet, which was a sharp contrast to the commotion earlier. And then, those selfish and mischievous phrases and Rod’s top-notch vocals create a deep sympathy. This conversational atmosphere is the perfect opening for the two to co-star together again. And “Morning Dew” continues without the MC. “I Ain’t Superstitious” was performed 10 years ago, but this is the first time in 50 years since 1969! “I Ain’t Superstitious” was a song where Rod responded to Jeff, while “Morning Dew” was a song where Rod’s vocals led the song and Jeff decorated it with phrases. Not only is it nostalgic and rare, but these two songs come together to perfectly express the significance of the show. Furthermore, the show will include “People Get Ready”, which they performed together in 2009, and will continue with “Rock My Plimsoul” and “Blues Deluxe”, which they also performed for the first time in 50 years. In “People Get Ready,” Rod’s deep voice and Jeff’s unpredictable phrases create a beautiful interaction, and in “Rock My Plimsoul,” the two’s tastes are a perfect match (even after 50 years). I was reminded of this. And, the highlight “Blues Deluxe” drips with the blues that is the roots of the legend…. Unlike other songs, it seems that it has never been sung at Rod’s solo concert, but what makes it more valuable is the content. After all, there is magic in the combination of this voice and this guitar. The rich and deep blues, which is different from just the familiar co-stars, will change the color of the Hollywood night. This work ends with 23 minutes and 30 seconds of four songs, “People Get Ready” and “TRUTH”, which I want to last forever. This is their first encounter in 10 years, and you can listen to three songs performed together again for the first time in 50 years since JEFF BECK GROUP. In recent years, Rod has repeatedly commented that he hopes for a full-fledged reunion, including Ronnie, but I hope that Jeff will also become serious after this night…It is a wonderful show that I can’t help but hope for. Truly a miraculous reunion of the century. Live at Hollywood Bowl, Hollywood, CA, USA 27th September 2019 TRULY PERFECT SOUND Disc 1 (78:23) 1. Introduction 2. Infatuation 3. Having A Party 4.
