Description

“NET WT. VERY HEAVY (8.5 Pecks Of Recycled Asparagus And Brocolli Organically Chewed)” is one of the great LPs that capture the Faces’ 1971 US tour. It was recorded in a mono audience recording with good sound quality, and later TMOQ even released a copy under the name “PERFORMANCE”. The sound image is large and the sound quality is very powerful, and it perfectly captures the passionate performance of Rod and the Faces as they put on a wild performance to achieve success in the US. It is no wonder that TMOQ released a copy with such good sound quality. Until now, records of the Faces’ early stages have been released on the WARDOUR label, such as TMOQ’s high-quality audience “SANTA MONICA 1970” and Soundboard’s “BOSTON TEA PARTY 1970: SOUNDBOARD MASTER REEL”, but this is especially comparable to Aud’s Santa Monica. Such a good Aud was carefully transferred from the original LP of “NET WT. VERY HEAVY”. Since it is a minor release vintage LP where the master is no longer expected to be unearthed, this release that can be listened to easily like this is truly a long-awaited release for enthusiasts. In addition, more than a year has passed since Boston and more than half a year has passed since Santa Monica, so the performance is strong. Although the Faces are known for their wild and laid-back stage, it feels good to hear them playing even more freely than the previous year’s performance. Needless to say, Rod also sings wildly, and the sound quality is surprisingly good for a 1971 Aud, so his singing, as if he is confronting the band’s unrestrained performance, is captured in an exquisite balance. In particular, the performance of “Around the Plynth” at the end of the live performance is more powerful than the previous year. And at that time, the group name of the Faces had not yet spread in the United States, so it is also nice that the artist name on this LP is “Rod Stewart With Small Faces”.
