Description

In 1973, Robin Trower struck out on his own and hit the world stage as a solo artist. Introducing a soundboard album where the heat flows directly into your brain. This work was recorded “August 11, 1973 Sausalito” which was one act of “TWICE REMOVED FROM YESTERDAY Tour”. This is a stereo soundboard recording of a studio live performance performed for the San Francisco radio station “KSAN-FM.” 1973 was the year of Robin’s solo debut, and our store has a superb soundboard album “ATLANTA 1973 PRE-BROADCAST MASTER REEL (Uxbridge 1020)” that is still fresh in our memories. In order to understand the era, let’s first look at the schedule at the time.・January 29th – February 4th: Europe #1 (3 performances)《TWICE REMOVED FROM YESTERDAY” released in March》 ・March 2nd – 20th: Europe #2 (12 performances) ・April 25th – June 9th: UK (35 performances) June 22nd-29th: Europe #3 (3 performances) July 22nd-September 3rd: North America #1 (18 performances) ←★Here★ ・October 19th – November 10th: North America #2 (9 performances) This is Robin Trower in 1973. While performing mainly in Europe, they also made it to the United States four months after the release of “TWICE REMOVED FROM YESTERDAY.” This work is the 10th performance of such “North America #1”. It was a performance about 3 weeks before “ATLANTA 1973”. For convenience, I called it a “performance,” but it was actually a studio live without an audience, not a concert. There is a point in the sound characteristics and performance of this work. First of all, regarding the sound, this is, as the word suggests, a “live studio recording.” It has a very strong sense of direct connection. Of course, there is a sense of closeness like a sound board even on stage live, but the sound of this work is more fundamentally different. For example, mix. In the case of a stage performance, no matter how good the soundboard is, the performance sound is mixed with sound creation and balance that takes into account the different reverberation characteristics of each instrument, but this work (of course) takes such consideration into the acoustics. do not have. There is no nuance that extends into the venue space that would be expected in a stage live performance, and there is no sense of openness in the singing voice that doesn’t care if the microphone is far away. That is the mix feeling that leads to a studio album. On top of that, the rawness of the performance is that it is not the same as a studio work. It’s a one-shot performance with no reshoots, and it has a sense of groove that everyone sings together, which is different from multiple layers. What’s more, the groove is created by an original trio including black drummer Reg Isadore, so it’s irresistible. The requirements for a live album vary widely, depending on the person, such as a “simulated concert experience,” “historical evidence,” or “a musical piece performed live.” However, in the case of this work, it is definitely specialized in “musical work performed live” both in terms of sound and performance. What kind of songs can you listen to in this work, which is full of the taste of such a studio live performance? Let’s organize the selection here. TWICE REMOVED FROM YESTERDAY (5 songs) ・Twice Removed From Yesterday (★) / Daydream / I Can’t Wait Much Longer / Man Of The World (★) / Sinner’s Song (★) BRIDGE OF SIGHS (4 songs) ・The Fool And Me (★) / Lady Love / Day Of The Eagle (★) / Little Bit Of Sympathy *Note: Songs marked with “★” cannot be heard on the official traditional edition “ROBIN TROWER LIVE”. …and it looks like this. Speaking of Robin’s live performances, the official masterpiece “ROBIN TROWER LIVE” is famous, so I compared it, but the song selection and song order are very similar to the aforementioned “ATLANTA 1973″. In addition to the debut work “TWICE REMOVED FROM YESTERDAY”, the album also includes the number “BRIDGE OF SIGHS”, which was unreleased at the time. Perhaps due to the broadcast time limit, the encore song “Rock Me Baby” was not played, but other than that, the normal live set was reproduced as it was. Of course, this is the correct answer. Rock musicians, especially in the 70’s, were good at live performances but couldn’t show their true potential in the studio. I don’t say that Robin is the same, but this work does not have the whiteness that is common in studio live performances, and the performance heats up more and more. Although he doesn’t snort at the audience in front of him, the enthusiasm that must have been ingrained in his body and mind through the repetition of his daily routine is seeping out and spilling out. Soundboard recordings are more valuable than audience recordings, but they are even rarer when it comes to studio live performances. Moreover, if it has a length and enthusiasm comparable to a continuous live performance, it is so rare that any band will have one throughout their entire career. This work is a record of that miracle. Stereo soundboard recording recorded at “August 11, 1973 Sausalito”. This was a studio live performance performed for the radio station “KSAN-FM”, boasting a sense of synchronization that rivals that of a studio album, while also being intensely vivid as can be expected from a live performance. The set is the same as a normal live performance, so there is no whiteness that tends to be found in studio sessions, and you can enjoy plenty of rock that has been enriched and reduced to the masterpieces “TWICE REMOVED FROM YESTERDAY” and “BRIDGE OF SIGHS” and upgraded with live performance tension.
